GT200 GTX280/260 "official specs"

Like most gfx cards today it comes with the molex adapter(s) needed I would imagine.

not all manufactures supply the adaptors, I know BFG most probably will but I'm not sure about the rest, I'd say it's definitely worth finding out before planting your cash down as the 6 pin to 6+2 pin adaptors are very very hard to find in the UK atm.

so 2x 4870's wouldnt the x2 be better because of the shared memory? wonder how much of a difference that would actually make

Will the x2s share video memory?!

I thought that just they stored redundant copies of everything, as with standard SLI/x-fire (getting the benefits of doubled memory bandwidth at the expense of effectively halving memory size and all the other multi-GPU nastiness).

Anyway, if the X2s DO share video memory, then they will likely lose out to x-fire 4870s in average FPS benchmarks (due to having half the effective memory bandwidth). That said, they would almost completely eliminate the multi-GPU issues (uneven frame output, poor minimum framerates etc) - the card would behave like a single-GPU card! This would be well worth the perfomance drop-off. If they DID use a single memory stack I would probably grab myself an x2.

As mrk says nearly every card comes with them now. Even my PNY 9800GTX came with one.

"nearly every card"

Like I said no harm in checking, I know a few people that brought 8800gtx's and didn't receive any Molex to 2 x 6 pin adaptors with their card, even if it's only a small chance you don't want to be left trying to find an adaptor, I tried for weeks to find one in the UK and there practically impossible to find.

Well I just sent OcUK a web note

"Guys when are you putting your GTX280's up on your site ?, any chance of putting them up a little early for pre-orders ?, also any details on the pricing yet ?

Cheers guys."

and was replied with,

"Thank you for your web note. I have no idea when this will be listed. Regards,"

hardly fills me with confidence, one day from official release and they don't know when they will be listed .

More card pics. :)

That's because it all depends on when they get the go ahead to put it on the site from the big wigs... the average muggins sales staff likely won't know the exact time.

Now is it me or do all the new nVidia cards look like those dirt devil hoovers? That looks like one seriously large card! How does the size compare to the 4850/4870?

Hardly a professional response either.

I'd prefer a response like that rather than them trying to dance around the question.

I get a feeling from that response the guy didn't even go and ask around the office if the card was coming out today he simply relied upon his own knowledge and replied saying he had "no idea" which isn't helpful.
