Gran Turismo producer Kaz Yamauchi hopped on stage at Sony Japan's Tokyo Game Show press conference this evening to talk all about the popular racing series.

He began first by announcing the Japanese release date for Gran Turismo 5. The game will now ship in March 2010, not sometime in 2009 as originally speculated. No word yet if this is a worldwide release, or if other regions should expect it to come out later. We'll keep a look out.

Kaz also went over some pretty impressive features, such as the inclusion of 950 cars, over 20 courses and 70 variations. Also expect a new physics system, car damage, movable objects on the track, and the newest hybrid cars and electric cars.

Modes include single player, split screen, and two-player arcade. GT Mode includes a world map, my garage, car dealer, tuning shop, championship race, and a license test. Online support includes open lobby, text/voice chat, private room, online photo album, online replay album, and export of replays to Youtube.

Hmm no Christmas release then so disappointed now was hoping for a christmas release.

Lol, I knew it.

All those people saying it will come out at xmas based on the 458 DLC for Forza must be feeling pretty silly.

Ah yes they sure will feel like a bunch of jolly clowns right now.

Nothing we can do except carry on waiting I suppose. Might be easier to forget about this game for now and wait for it to just be released, whenever that may be.

Not silly no dissapointed that again PD treat their fans and comsumers this way. Gamescon even had an official flyer stating December release.
As for Kaz and PD we can no longer believe anything they say untill its 100% confirmed and that also probably goes for details on things they said would be in the game for the past 2 or so years.
Perhaps however the delay is for something that will ensure the game is as good as they want it to be. TGS will have lots of new videos and although it looks to be a great game, waiting for it time and time again particulary still yet with so little details on it is whats more frustrating.

Still FM3 will only get even more playtime and attention now, certainly at my home anyways.

I must expand on my comment, it wasn't aimed at anybody here, but the countless people across the internet making those noises that as it was coming holiday 09 to FM3 that GT5 would be out.

Agree 100% with the way that PD have treated consumers/fans is awful.

The feature list is pretty standard stuff for the racing genre and the track listing of 20 tracks (70 layouts) is a strange one, hopefully they are not all reverse versions. Overall I'm quite disappointed.

20 tracks, 20 reverse tracks, 15 short versions and 15 short reverse versions perhaps.

TBH I am not that fussed about another delay, I almost lost interest.

They are just too fussy about the game and keep changing, adding stuff, I said it before and will say it again:

Come on PD, release the game and change other stuff with patches

Just for the record the March date has not been dated for a single region or Japan as the thread is titled. It could and likely will mean a worldwide release time frame. Also at E3 I remember that guy is it Jack stood up at E£ and said "all the games we are showing today will be out by end of fiscial year" that included GT5 and GOW3 of course.

As for GT typically it would release in Japan in Dec then USA/Europe between 3-5 months later if based on previous releases, so its further reason to believe like the PSP version they will go more for a worldwide release.
