Gran Turismo producer Kaz Yamauchi hopped on stage at Sony Japan's Tokyo Game Show press conference this evening to talk all about the popular racing series.
He began first by announcing the Japanese release date for Gran Turismo 5. The game will now ship in March 2010, not sometime in 2009 as originally speculated. No word yet if this is a worldwide release, or if other regions should expect it to come out later. We'll keep a look out.
Kaz also went over some pretty impressive features, such as the inclusion of 950 cars, over 20 courses and 70 variations. Also expect a new physics system, car damage, movable objects on the track, and the newest hybrid cars and electric cars.
Modes include single player, split screen, and two-player arcade. GT Mode includes a world map, my garage, car dealer, tuning shop, championship race, and a license test. Online support includes open lobby, text/voice chat, private room, online photo album, online replay album, and export of replays to Youtube.
