GT5 Japan release date

:D:D

The same thing happened with previous GT games iirc. Release strongly hinted at and then announced for the fourth quarter. Game then actually rocks up at the tail end of spring (if you're lucky :P). I think with GT4 it did actually make it to Japanese shelves for the festive period though.

PD are probably playing Forza 3 instead of finishing their own game :p

Hah, in seriousness i think they will actually be playing it, gotta see what the compeition is like right?

So dissapointed with the extra wait, although i never did have that much hope it would be coming out the end of this year anyway. I will however definately be getting an import copy of this. Hopefully the game saves will be transferrable between region copies.

Oh for crying out loud!

GT5 was originally scheduled for 2008. It runs any later and it'll start rivalling Strike Commander and Daikatana for missing the boat.

At least I'll have FM3 to be getting along with.

GT5 was only officially announced at E3 this year, before it was GT5P and much talk about it, March 10 is the only release date we have ever been given officially. Im not sure how they can miss the boat when the console isnt even half war through its life. Would i like GT5 to come out this year, of course i would, but if they dont think its as good as it should be and want to improve the game then id rather wait a few more months.

I don't like the way that Polyphony said a few months back " Well, we could release it any time we want to". They said something along the lines of finding more content to add and so far it seems the major work is done and the game could be released, but they keep adding bits and bobs. At this rate it'll be Christmas 2010 before they release. This is turning out to be like the new 'Gran Turismo' for PSP. Although as everyone else has said, at least Forza will be around to pass the time.

OK, I'll rephrase - a PS3 GT game was announced as in development for 2008, we got a GT5P as a stopgap/development. The betting was on a Q4 release, even Amazon had it listed as a December launch a couple of months back.

Anyway, I'll have FM3 to keep me busy for a while.

Yeah i said earlier, something has happened with the Date for this game, everything had pointed to a late 09 release. Rumours that the damage model is being changed with other improvements seems to me they wanted to improve the game rather than release it this year.

I think one of the reasons could be that their waiting to see what FM3's career mode is like. With the PSP version having no career mode whatsoever, i think they might be struggling to find a good balance.

I found FM2 career ok, but i didn't get the sense of achievement as i have done with something like Dirt 2 for example. It would be nice to win a race and at least see myself on a podium.

I really hope they do something like this as just showing you the car you've just won isn't good enough.

I've waited long enough already, so i don't mind waiting a little bit more if it is time well spent.

Interesting update :

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/28/gran-turismo-5-international-release-likely-early-2010/

Sony announced a March release for Gran Turismo 5 at Tokyo Game Show last week, a release window that was specifically targeted for the Japanese market. However, don't expect a surprise 2009 release (sorry Amazon!). "I don't think it's going to be that different for US and Europe," Polyphony Digital head Kazunori Yamauchi told journalists at a GT5 event last week. "Marketing is still discussing their issues," which is the reason why a specific date hasn't been pegged yet for those markets.

Yamauchi then went on to list a befuddling list of features that should ship on the disc next year. GT Mode will return with all the features of classic GT games, like the garage, the car dealer, the tuning shop, and license tests. However, more exciting are the new features, such as a brand-new physics model that includes damage and deformation for all normal cars. Hybrid and electric cars are going to be added to the livery, too, with over 950 cars available on the disc. There will also be over 70 variations of over 20 locations to race through.

The online features have been expanded to include both text and voice chat, with support for lobbies and private rooms. There will be online photo albums and online replay albums as well; with the ability to export replays to YouTube. Gran Turismo TV, the video service introduced in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will also be expanded with a brand new UI, progressive downloading (so you can watch the video content while it downloads), and the ability to export these videos to PSP. While this may seem like the kitchen sink of features, Yamauchi teased, "We have much more planned."

- the game posesses a a day/night cycle and its finally possible to race in the rain.
- tire usage is in, and it varies based on the quality of the driving and also the temperature of the rubber. They showed off details of tire management in the video and you can examine the tracks to optimize your tire setup and sets.

Good to see that it doesnt have to be the defintive racing game of the generation or years ahead of the opposition to include Day/night cycles, weather and proper tyre wear and temperature.

Quick rundown
- game is mostly ready as far as content it seems (ready to race on a basic course today), but 65% of the "experience" only.
- still tweaking the damage model, where they are working hardest now.
- GT5 has a friends/invitees only area, probably for MP.
- WRC and Nascar in, but F1 difficult to get in there with all teams. He wants as many "championships" in as possible.
- on Forza, he said GT improves with every iteration and he looks at both old GTs and competition and fan's sugegstions and desires. He thinks competition is good and other games in the genre are a good thing.
- G force meter is optional and available. Helps balancing the car and setting it up.

Way this game is going it'll be up there with Duke Nukem in awards for vapourware..!!

GT5 Prologue is about the only material that'll save it from being a title that'll never be seen...!!

Lots of other games coming out to get your hard earned cash everyone... I'll be hoping this title will be worth the wait. But somehow I just don't think so. glad to be proved wrong though...:)

Not a chance mate, people have played GT5 we've seen screen shots and video and many sites had tours of PD this weekend, so expect many more updates on GT5. How many games that had a solid release date for this year have been put back to March or later in 2010? Splinter cell was anounced before the 360 release, FF13 was announced years ago still not out etc. Im pretty sure you will be proved wrong come next year.

i really am buying a xbox and getting FM3, this is tosssss

Good for you, you can enjoy the defintive racer of this gen then, its years ahead of any other driving sim so ive been told.

(I know Forza 3 will be good, excellent even but im just having fun at MS execs bull)

How funny would it be if it turns up and it's just like the new GT for the PSP!

Personally I think the decision for how the PSP vesrsion was structured was dev time. It seems the decision was made to have it launch for the PSP Go.
Its also very likely this cut into the Dev time of GT5 and could be one of the resaons GT5 now is March 2010. I dont think their is a single reason for the delay, well longer dev time.

In previous interviews Kaz stated that PSP version would come AFTER GT5, looks like somone at Sony decided otherwise.
I also personally think Sony will use GT5 to help promote its new 200HZ 3D TVs that are coming. Theyve even demonstrated GT5P with this at E3 this year. Its also very likely to feature highly in HOME and that maybe is part of the delay also. I certainly dont entertain the idea that GT5 is delayed because they want to ensure they have a better career mode than FM3 has.

I have said though and still feel amongst many doubters that GT5 does seem to be like it will be a definative racing title and the best GT to date. The more we learn about it the more that seems aparent.
Really look forward to the head tracking as well.
