GT86/GR86/BRZ

Just an update on this @sandys - I phoned my dealer for clarification over the weekend, they said they were still in the dark and would contact me on Tuesday when they could contact Toyota GB and confirm. I spoke to them yesterday and they confirmed that Toyota have said all orders are online only, and they will refund the deposit.

Online orders opened at 10AM. I've just placed mine and now have a confirmation. Hoping to take delivery of an electric blue with manual transmission from July :)

I've ordered the same - just need to get my refund from the local dealer. They contacted me at 09:45 to tell me to order online at 10:00.
 
I've decided to wait until the hype has died down and see if I can get one at the end of the run (hopefully at a discount), I've got a lot of toys to add to my current one and it's only done 50k miles so it seems a waste to be trading in.
 
@Conscript nice one, that is the colour I would have, I reckon it is going to be one of the more popular colour as car manufacturers have got so boring, it i nice to have something other than black, silver/grey, white and a dark blue......says man who's just bought another white car :D

I would go for that blue also, top three would be that blue, red or white for me, I'm thinking of putting an order also, but it can't arrive before my missus' Volvo or I'll get shot :D Sounds like they'll arrive in July.

Toyota are not going to discount a brand new car, the car seems to have pretty decent demand and I am sure a few people will be ordering to just attempt to sell on or even for stock at specialist performance garages.

Not at the moment no, but my order form for my car when I bought it new had £2,800 of dealer discount applied from list in 2013 so the car had been out for only a year with that applied. The 30k price tag is a very fair price after 10 years considering the same "specification" including the tax adjustment would bring the car out at £28,500. 10 years of inflation and a lot of improvements to the car it's much better value than the original. Until the car is launched properly and we have an idea of the allocation to the UK it's hard to tell how values will be affected, but if there's a hard deadline for when they have to be sold by and there's still allocation left I'll be in a better position to know if I really want one after a few test drives.

Limited production, different market with high demand due to ICE coming to an end, I'd be willing to wager there will be zero discount on the GR86 and it will sell out and residuals will remain pretty solid.
 
I bottled it, was on the page this morning but never bought a "new" car before. I also wasn't sure to get the Auto or not (don't judge lol) Nearly all of the my driving is to/from work and stop/start so it getting annoying always having to pull away.

I wouldn't expect a discount on a brand new launch, but towards the end of the run at the end of the day Toyota are a sell by numbers company and they'll want to have as many cars out there as possible before the hard deadline to continue to service and maintain a healthy 2nd hand market for their dealer network. Numbers going around suggest the pre-order was less than 10% of the total allocation for the 2 years. Now it's got even more competition with the GR Yaris, the manual GR Supra coming soon and a healthy supply of facelift GT86 to chose from it will be interesting to see if Toyota will increase production for the demand, and doing so if they'll pre-register a lot of cars before July 2024. Considering Toyota were already discounting the GT86 less than a year into sales it will be interesting to see what happens towards the end of the run.

Time are quite different to when to the GT86 launched, my bet is there will be no discount and more likely a price increase considering how raw material cost are exploding.
The war in Ukraine is eating up supplies of a lot of advanced weaponry, factories are now focusing on building more weaponry to replace all the stock piles donated to Ukraine and a lot of the materials used in weaponry, copper and aluminium for instance are going up in price and supply of parts to build cars is still very tight, plus Toyota have lots of other cars to build as well and divert time too.

It will take a big recession to hit which could also happen late or next year to have an impact of potentially lowering prices, but considering their first batch of cars sold out in 2 hours on the website suggest the demand is present.

If it turns out you don't want it and there's super demand still, you could flip it pretty easily or if the demand was all just 'omg limited production' hype and the excitement has died off, just cancel.

Is part of that just the narrowing market for enjoyable to drive ICE cars though? I can't think of much I'd actually want to spend my hard earned on in terms of a new car these days and that list shrinks even further if I narrow that to cars I could potentially afford.
