GTA 4 PS3 vs 360

can this game be played online???????????????

There is 16 online modes, of which 4 have been previewed by many, MANY games websites!!! . It will basically be 16 of you and your mates morphing into the exact spot you are in Liberty City into an online 16 player max Liberty City. Think very much like Burnout Paradise. After that you can pick a game mode or just mess around (exactly like Burnout Paraidse!!)

The online will probably be better due to Live functionality on the 360 (Not all of the people on my 360 list have Gold anymore either). But most people I would want to play with are on ps3, so even if it is slightly worse, it is better than playing with random people on the 360 I don't know.

No i think its up to 16 players, with a dozen or so game modes.

Like 2 teams one has to escort a vip across the city or whatever.

So it will be 16 people plus all the usual NPC's and stuff.

I would have thought there would be achievements available on the PS3 version of this too.

Considering the soon to be implemented "Trophies" system. RFOM's gonna have them.

Game on Game, I'd say 360 version will be better, Due to the added content.

The rest is just hear say.

I think for those wondering the only answer is to wait. Both versions will be great, so nothing to worry about. Only reason I'm getting Xbox360 version is because one of my very best friends just got an Xbox360 and has ordered it otherwise I'd be getting it on PS3 to play with msmalls and Inoshishi.

Got a 360 and PS3 but going to buy it on the PS3 as everyone from work who I used to play online with (CoD2 & 4, Halo3, RS:V, FIFA) on the 360 have moved over to the PS3. Also for the quieter play.

Other than that it's more than likely that the versions will be pretty much identical other than the 360 getting the exclusive dlc.

hmmm by the sounds of the online system you wouldbe better off with the 360 rp2000, i tried playing pes2008 on the ps3 network the other day and the lagg was awful in 90% of the games i played

the 360 has a much smoother online system, with dedicated servers, etc

you may have to pay for it but its probably worth it

i am critical of both systems but i think the 360 is definiteley the console to have this game on

in 2 years time they will make GTA 4 part 2 and hopefully by then sony will have a decent online system up and running and then i would buy the game on ps3 rather than 360

i think this will be the last year i am purchasing a gold live membership purely for this game

ive managed to make my mind up now - thanks for everyone who helped

Do they use 360 and PS3 version for the trailers and screenshots?

From what I've heard, It's the 360 version used for the trailers, but i don't remember where i heard that.

I think it's Something to do with the PS3 version of the game not being ready, But the Trailers were being put together, So speculations started..as usual, That it had to be the 360 version we were seeing.

360 games don;t have dedicated servers!! (Nor do many Sony games eitehr though :) ).

I've played more than my fair share of online games on both to know that apart from the in game dashboard access which lets you message and do game invites, there is no difference tbh. Some 360 games have had shocking online setup/performance, as have PS3 games.

Without reading more about the specific online differences (which last weeks reviews ignored!), I can't see what difference the messaging/chatting to people not in your game would be in this game. Regardless, even though I think Live is worth it, and have Gold, most people I know have either not renewed this year, or have sold their 360s for PS3s so my choice is defined by that, really.
