GTA V Multiplayer thread (360, XBOX ONE, PS3 and PS4)

Tad worrying but true, I really feel GTA V should have just had GTA IV style free roam and then GTA online should have come for next gen, 64 players, fully populated city etc, maybe £25 digital download only and they would recoup way more in micro transactions.

I just hope neat next gen release is a next gen GTA:O.

As much as current hardware was pushed to the limit with GTA V, could this be a step too far? Going to pay more tomorrow night and reserve judgement for now, will have to see! :)

Hi guys is it possible for me to be added to the Crew please..

XBL- sharples1975

Be fun with like minded people. I did find a random Uk guy last night. I shot 'her' as he was coming out of the strip club and I heard him on chat saying

"wth. why would someone shoot me as I have just had some girl on girl action?"

I laughed so much and told him it was me and we sort of got chatting and after that we went everywhere and caused carnage.. never had so much fun. I was crying most of the time with laughter, this game is funny as ****.

So.... pretty please can I be added to the ocuk crew?

To be fair, the way the free roam acts as the lobby, and links you into missions, jobs, races, etc, is very good indeed. The free roam will definitely be fun with a good group of people playing together, it's just the empty streets which feel a bit of a let down right now.

Not managed to get online with it yet. How do we spot OCUK crew in the game, and are we not killing each other or do i have to watch my back?

This thread is going too fast now for me to keep up with invites. Your best bet is probably to add one of the Commissioners/Lieutenants as a friend, stating you want an invite with your ocuk name in the message :)

It seemed to be pretty dull last night. I can't describe why. But the whole missions and "jobs" just seemed a bit disjointed from the whole thing. 16 players just isn't enough really. As most of the time, unless you're with friends, you're just driving around doing stuff that you could easily be doing offline.

I think it's a few DLC releases away from being anything like they tried to make it out to be in the trailer

Sure it's fun with friends, but GTAIV multiplayer was fun with friends.

I'm not taking a dig at it for the sake of it by the way, I'm a huge fan of the offline GTAV, think it was as close to perfect as a game could get. I just think the online mode is a bit underwhelming given what they sold it as in the trailer

I couldn't even get online. Created the character but it wouldn't let me join the online game and jumped back into single player.

Arse.

My character looks like me and the T-Shirt he's wearing has the crew logo on so if you do see me, don't shoot me ffs.

It's all a bit confusing as to what is actually going on and what stage you are at when you go to a job.

I've got the map unlocked now as I've done the tutorial missions up to the first job you have to do with the team war.

Must say though, every time I tried to get online I was able to on the 360, just the lobbies seem a bit clunky when doing jobs.

It has a lot of potential, but there is one major issue it's going to face, and that is the next generation of consoles launching at the end of next month. I just don't know if it's enough to keep people playing it after they come out.

I managed to get in and play for a couple of hours tonight. My thoughts so far:

- When in free roam the city feels very empty, less peds and less cars, it just felt dead

- The rally mode is awful unless you're with someone who had a headset, or can at least hear you. I was shouting out instructions and the guy was driving in the wrong direction. I eventually invited him to voice chat and he could hear me, so we made it to the end after a LONG time

- Last team standing is crap because it takes so long to load between rounds

- Races are fun, but it feels like there's lots of rubber banding. Also, it sometimes felt like my car wasn't going full speed, as if I was only holding half throttle, and I have no idea why. I noticed in the options there's one for 'catchup', and I wondered whether this cripples the people at the front of the race. If so, ridiculous.

I feel like this will only be fun when playing with a group of people you know, or just fun people who want to play together and chat.

All in all, I can't see me playing this past a few weeks, but I hope I'm wrong, I have no doubt I'll have fun on it, but at the moment my initial impressions aren't so great.

I saw a live stream yesterday. Personally I cant see this being that popular for long. Theres so much to do, but most of the players will not organise to do it. Players are easily greifed, so a small number will ruin the fun for the majority. It will be fun for a while but people will tire of it.

Only people whom are in crews or have lots of friends will play it for long, which is usually the minority in online games.

Plus its the wrong time on the wrong formats.

the police and gang members kill you so easy online, it's really annoying. done a few missions and they should really have been in single player because they don't require team work or anything. Got to rank 9 so not much unlocked yet.

I managed to put about an hour into this last night on 360. I didn't actually have many issues with lag etc. Managed to complete the tutorial (or at least I think I did - got to the bit where you have to do a team last man standing game and did a round. The map seemed to open up after that but I think some sort of prompt would have been nice).

My observations:

- Character creation is terrible basically. GTA IV's was better imo as you could focus on your looks without having to mess about with some pointless family resemblance rubbish. Not sure what Rockstar was going for here.

- Is it just me or is there no obvious way of hosting your own session where you can invite your friends or crew? I don't see a way of playing with a large group of mates right now as you are simply placed into existing sessions and there are rarely enough slots to invite friends in (like 5 or more players).

- Ped / traffic count is very noticeable and is a shame. Really diminishes the atmosphere.

- It's a shame you can't seem to perform the epic jump and fall in mid air / perform head dive manoeuvre in the online mode. It seems to be have prevented but is so funny in SP.

- It's a shame you can't say insults to peds using right on the d-pad. I swear you could do this in GTA IV.

I didn't get a chance to play a mission in co-op and that is really all I want from the game. My main concern right now is that you can't seem to host free roam / lobby sessions with just friends (probably doing it wrong). Also, because missions etc are instanced, does this mean that you can't bring vehicles etc with you into the mission? If so, I am suddenly far less excited by this.

You can launch online from hitting start and entering the online tab. Then from there you can choose friends session, crew session etc. And actually also solo session which was getting people through the tutorial section (but it limits the missions you can open).

And if your in a free roam already you can enter a mission marker choose to host and then invite either crew, friends, current session, matched skill level etc.
