GTA V

that was what? 6-7 years ago? and it was a dog**** port.

i really think they aint gonna do the same mistake again.. and going by max payne 3 which ran flawlessly on PC's even low to mid spec im sure this game will run like a dream and is gonna look amazing!

Hopefully..

I am sure that was a tongue in cheek question anyway, with a more than probable harkening back to GTA IV's woeful PC performance at launch as someone already said.

When they say in recomended specifications for GTA V a GTX 660, I wonder at which settings and expected performance? Is there a given standard? Say if you meet rec specs you are guaranteed 30fps at high settings 1080 res?

I'm not sure if this proves anything but NVInspector shows GTA V as using the same SLI compatibility bits as Black Flag, which has excellent SLI scaling. Fingers crossed!

Looks like we can transfer our characters, game progress and get bonus stuff as "returning players" if were gamed on last gen consoles too:

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT FOR RETURNING PLAYERS
To reward loyal Grand Theft Auto V fans for playing on PC and experiencing a newer, more detailed version of Los Santos and Blaine County, Rockstar Games has an array of exclusive items specifically for these players returning from PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360 - with each of them connected to activities designed for them to experience the game's massive world in new and exciting ways. For more info about gaining access to exclusive content for returning players, please visit www.rockstargames.com/V/bonuscontent.

TRANSFER YOUR EXISTING GTA ONLINE CHARACTER
Existing players on PlayStation®3, PlayStation®4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One will be able to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to PC. For more information, please visit http://www.rockstargames.com/gtaonli...ractertransfer.

Edit*
That's online character, not single player character. Bugger!
The second part is for Online characters of course, the first is for single player. You just have to have been logged into Social Club when you played and (I believe) beat the tutorial section, very early on in the game.

The items are pretty cool!

Because GTAV uses the RAGE engine, hopes are high that it will scale all the way up to 4 GPU's and SLI/Crossfire profiles won't be a problem as it should be very similar to Max Payne 3.

As usual, it may take 3 months post release to sort all configs out but the recent form is good from Rockstar on PC ports.

Looks like you can now get the pre-order bonus up until the 14th. I wonder if there is a way not to get it though, I'd really rather not have it for single player.

Well yeah I guess, I just wondered how it would work, in some games you can pick up such bonuses near the start so maybe you could just ignore it.

But I'm sure nobody knows anyway, sorry, just ignore me. :)

Well, I just picked this up on steam. Should have got it there in the first place. I guess there is no preorder bonus anymore?

yes you still get the bonus, but $150k less for online play (was $300k)

What's the opinion on the steam version, the inevitable community mods and Valves ridiculous account banning policy?

Would the retail version be safer for mods?

so what are people's plans for playing this... single player first? or straight to online multiplayer??
as ive never played it on the console's i think il 'find my feet' on SP then when i think i know what im doing il go MP :D

You raise a very interesting point here.... the game could be a little like battlefield in the fact people don't bother to do SP and jump straight to multiplayer.

Think I'll go for a night of single player and then MP the next day :) Reminds me - must book a couple of days off!
