Its released the day before I leave for 10 weeks basic training in the armed forces. Devastated. Won't be pre-ordering but will pick it up, pretty much on the way back :p

Doesn't getting a massive wadge of in-game cash as a pre-order bonus detract from the game itself a bit? I might be wrong having never played GTAV on the consoles so I don't know the story, but in the earlier games a lot of the fun + progression in the game came from how you started out small and eventually worked your way up to the big mansion properties and fancy cars... Is skipping all of that really a good thing?

Perhaps. It has been stated you get the money on Franklin's character, who isn't exactly rolling in cash at the start. If it was Michael it would make more sense. But really it's not a huge amount of cash (there are properties you can buy for hundreds of millions if I remember right), it just sounds it.

The cash itself won't actually get you much when you start your GTA Online character. You need to level up to be able to get things, i.e. most weapons/cars/apartments need a certain RP level to be able to buy them.

It's been a while since I played it on the 360 so I might be slightly wrong; but the principle remains :)

EDIT: Yes sorry on single player you can buy things straight away, but you'll find $500k won't last all that long!

preorder money scam? what world are you living on? It's just a normal pre order like any other game has.

If you pre order before Feb 1st you get $1,000,000 in game currency plus an extra $300k and GTASA.

So if you don't pre order, you don't get it.

Just a scam to get money off people before any reviews etc - the game could run like a dog but don't worry 1000's of people have already paid for it so release the game and we will give them a patch in the next 3 months.

I'll wait for some gameplay reviews before I ***** any money on it.

After purchase on steam, the email read GTA V - Pre-Order (Tier 1). Does that suggest that there would be more pre-purchase options in the future which include DLC's for example?

A million isn't all that much in this game really. Some of the properties are super expensive, like the golf course that is around 150 million i think.

With a million it'll certainly help with buying ammo, guns and doing up a few cars early on. I doubt it would ruin the game for you though.

I remember back in the 90s paying £30 for a game was pretty normal through "Special Reserve" or other mail order companies to get the latest games as no where locally sold them and when they did it was usually even more expensive. More games are sold now, but the price hasn't changed that much in 20 years which is pretty incredible.

I'll be getting GTA V, probably via steam due to the amount I have in my steam wallet from selling Steam junk cards etc.

The amount of money you will make from trading stocks will make the 500k seem like pocket money :p

They did the same preorder deals on PS4 getting 500k for online and 500k for single player

For anyone worrying the game is absolutely worth £40

Going to cancel my pre-order with CDKeys.com and pre-order through Steam.
I'll pay the extra for the ease of having it on Steam and the fact that I always max my connection speed with them. Should mean downloading is only a few hours.

I'll let the dust settle before getting this.

Finished main story on 360 quite fast so I could sell my 360 before it came out on Xbone and PS4 and looking forward to taking my time with it on pc...but not desperate as have lots of other stuff to play.

Any1 know if my PC will be able to run it on high? AMD 955 X4,8GB and HD6870, not expecting ultra obviously. Looking to get from steam too, apparently San Andreas is free with it too :D.

Won't pre-order, I bet it will just come out the same way gta 4 did. Got it on the 360 so that should keep me going

We had a Special Reserve store in Chelmsford years ago I remember a friend recommending it because games were always a few quid cheaper then other retailers.

Very unlikely, that processor is going to be a bottleneck. The recommended processor for an AMD chip is an 8-core.

Lucky sod, I had to wait two weeks for delivery minimum, usually it was closer to a month for a my.. cheque and the item to be posted to clear :D

I remember buying stuff from Special Reserve, used to get their catalogue newsletter, I must be getting old. :D
