GTA4-yet another good looking Gfx mod!

Cannot for the life of me get this mod/game to work properly.

Installed the game just to try the mod out, patched it to 1.0.4.0 and added the mod, didn't change any settings and the game started and ran fine. At this point I only had a few minutes to look around so I tried playing the game again the next day only to find it would stop responding as soon as I started it.

I decided to re-install the game. Re-installed it, patched it again, made sure I installed the mod correctly, started the game and it worked fine. Again, I only had a few minutes to have a look. Now we're at today and I get home, go to start the game and it's crashing before I've even seen a Rockstar logo again.

Strange, I've not changed a single setting in the config file, the game or infact the whole computer so I cannot fathom why it's started this crashing business again.

Infact I think I'll just sod the whole thing because it didn't look dramatically different anyway and I'm not going to download a 7GB file to add some apparently fancy textures to the floor and walls.

Sorry, too confusing to downgrade everything at the moment. I'll do it when I complete this game.

I don't understand why there are so many haters for this game. It's really good.

iCEnhancer 1.25 seems to actually work with 1.0.7.0! :)

OK, some of the cut-scenes are a touch bright, but other than that it all is looking good :)

(I'll grab some screenshots tonight) :)

Thanks. Would save me time (and less fear of losing my saved game) if I didn't have to downgrade.

Boring? I don't find it any different to any other GTA game.

And it runs and plays fine on my PC.

The story and gameplay are nowhere near as good as those in SA or VC.

Just because it runs fine on your configuration and not on several other configs proves that it's badly optimised.

It's not a bad game by any means but there are reasons for which some people might dislike it.

Had a few minutes to have a quick blast to get some screenshots with the iCEnhancer 1.25 running with the Steam version (1.0.7.0), as well as the "Better City Textures" pack and a selection of real life cars :)

The quality in-game is better than the screenshots show - maybe it's the type of JPEG compression the Steam screenshot feature uses?

At night, with thunder (the 2nd shot is when the lightning fires)

Showing the motion blur off/on

It's certainly made quite a nice difference :) Some of the cut-scenes in story mode are a touch on the over-exposed side, but other than that it's really good :)

i have ICEenhancer working with EFLC working really well. i get average of about 24fps at night and about 25-30 in day. using just the new ice version with no other changes. I would like to mess around with it to get me like a solid (lol) 30fps as the game seems playable at this. and unmodded i cant get it much higher than 35fps anyways no matter what detail settings. Next i want to get the big ass texture pack, can anyone link me to the best place to get it? also how well does this game deal with crossfire? im using CF 5870s should i keep crossfire enabled? or perhaps disable it for this game?

my god i need that texture pack. PS it appears i get better performance with crossfire disabled. How depressing -.-

Also everyones screenshots appear to be much... sharper? i cant quite explain the slight... fuzzyness i get ingame. its not blury or bad quality its like a..... i dont have the word for it. haha. perhaps its just the still images look sharper but i was wondering if im missing something here?

You need to disable games for windows live by copying the files from the folder 'If it doesn't work' to your game directory, then if it still doesn't work disable any other overlays (afterburner, steam, etc), the mod does not like overlays at all.

Just a word of caution, it is not flawless. Intro animation was funky lightning wise, and interiors are a bit funky too. Exteriors looks great though, much better than vanilla GTA4. I hope they will improve it to perfection. And then I hope Rockstar will hire them. And make Red Dead Redemption for PC.

Heh :-).
