GTAV performance thread.

That must be using "Enable Unified GPU Usage monitoring" which doesn't show a true reflection of the gpu usage.

Na thats seperate usage, unified only shows one figure, thats showing a seperate one for each GPU, they do tend to stay the same percentage a lot when they start maxing out. My two do at least.

No it doesn't. Well it didn't for me anyway with my old 7950 crossfire setup. Unified showed both at matching usage when it really wasn't. It may be different now though admittedly.

It should be the other way round.
With unified usage checked, it'll show identical usage on all the cards in AB overlay and with it unchecked, it'll show varying usage across the cards.

For those running 4K with a single Titan X, SLI GTX970s , CFX 290/290X, SLI Titans OG/Black or SLI GTX980/GTX780Ti these seem to be the best performance/IQ settings I have found for a solid 60 FPS with vsync off in-game but set in the NV control panel.

FXAA ON
MSAA OFF
Population Density,Variety and Distance Scaling - 50%
Texture Quality - Very High
Shader Quality - Very High
Shadow Quality - Very High
Reflection Quality - Ultra
Reflection MSAA - X2
Water Quality - Very High
Particle Quality - Very High
Grass Quality - Normal
Soft Shadows - Softest
Post FX - Normal
AF - x16
Ambient Occlusion - Normal
Tesselation - Normal

Advanced Settings are all off.

These provides 60 FPS across the different areas (dips are only down to 58ish FPS) with a Titan X @ 1377Mhz on the core (no mem OC).

Depending on your setup you should be able to add some draw distance. I personally prefer not to have dips.

Total VRAM indication in the menu is 3026MB so I have added the GTX780Tis to the mix of setups for 4K.

Has anyone else noticed that enabling MSAA makes the tall grass outside the city look like it's almost disappeared. With it off it looks fullsome as it should on the higher settings of grass quality.

That's exactly how it worked for me Petey. Strange it seems different for others though. I highly doubt Matt is getting exact usage across 4 cards tbh.

This got me thinking too which is why I put some usage graphs up a page back (post #390). Mine are nothing like consistent. Given up tweaking now though. I can live with a stutter or two. Still weird usage across the cards so maybe there are gains to come. Need to hurry though, I'm a quarter through and can't stop playing!! :D

I only take screenshots posted out in the wilderness with lots of grass seriously with GTA V.

It's easy to get good performance in the city.

From what I understand, GPU usage reading from the 29 series is different to the 7000 series..
Unified is recommended setting if you using 290 or 290x.

Surely it doesn't effect performance and it just shows equal usage on both cards? Don't see how it can effect crossfire performance.

I've changed my tactics a bit now for this game. Running 780ti in SLI by the way, at 1440p on a rog swift with gsync.
I'm finding it painful getting consistent stutter free performance across all locations. I think This game, like many, has slight weirdness when it comes to SLI, vsync and gsync. Gsync just isn't cutting it properly for some reason and isn't helping with stutter.
So I've changed my tactics to running the game at 60hz and shooting for a rock steady consistent 60fps at all times. Weirdly, to do this though I have to set my swift to 60hz, but use a framerate limiter and set it to 59.

Doing this, it really is smooth as silk and I can pretty much max out all the settings (except msaa which I'm not using anyway - using sweetfx and SMAA instead.)
I just need to get used to trying to live with 60hz bluriness, but it's the best solution I've found for now.

A good thunder storm hammers my cards the most, as soon as it starts raining i find my self hitting my OC button before the fps start dipping :)

Maybe the 290 series doesnt report very accurately with seperate readings...the 7000 series seems quite accurate, if ya have good hearing you can match the usage up with the coilwhine from each card :D
