GTR Evolution

May I ask why STEAM is not an option?

The Race / GTR Evo games NEED STEAM to run in multiplayer anyway.

I bought GTR Evo retail but activated and run through STEAM anyway as it means I dont need to use the disc and patches are installed automatically.

Win Win.

I didnt know u needed steam to play it online :),But the reason i asked was the just for the sake of shopping around for prices ITS $44.99 on steam.
but it dont matter i got off me butt and went to a local high street Game shop and got it for £19.99 lol they had it hidden behind Race 07 which they want £14.99 for :)

Now just to figure out a profile for my saitek r660 gt.

Yes.

I currently have a shedload of tracks and cars.

Simbin have recently also stated they have no problems with mods of content from their older games as long as you have the game with the modded content so standby for even more mods.

I cannot wait fot GTL connversions of the Ford Capri to race around the Nurburgring.

How do you install mods/tracks to the steam version, the intsructions I've had with some of them aren't very clear.

For Tracks

Go into your STEAM Installation Folder
Go into STEAMAPPS
Go into your Username
Go into the Race 07 Folder.
Go into the GameData folder
Go into Locations

Copy the extracted archive to this folder.

I am unsure how to import cars as never had the need to do that yet.

Hope that helps.

I only bought this yesterday and noticed a few servers with people on them..

Probably the best thing to do is join a team, at least then the racing is excellent and very fair.

I see that the Race 07 and GTRE bundels now £9.99 from the usual places, is this a good game to get for someone new to driving games/sims. I think the last driving game of any sort I played was Test Drive 2, but have recently got Burnout Paradise and really enjoy it, though it is an arcade rather than sim. Any others out there I should consider. I have Xbox controller, I am guessing that this is going to be good enough, or are these types of sims better played with a wheel (I remember playing GT2 on the Playstaion and I was better on the pad than the wheel of that time).

I play using a 360 pad and it's absolutely fine, even when using a manual box it's easy enough. However I'm yet to try it with a manual clutch too.

I used to play Race 07 and Race with a 360 wired pad... Was fine for me, as my wheel is pretty useless to get to work with the game for some reason.

is there still lots of online races with this game as grid is just a waste of time with some of the idiots on there

Unless everyone has stopped playing it over the space of the last week you'l be able to find a race to join into most of the time, although unless its evening you might not necessarily get your favoured car class.

Before having a G25 I used to use an xbox pad with full manual and clutch - was good fun! Right analogue stick for brake + accel - clutch on the right trigger with the back buttons for gear change.

What wheel?

What wheel?

It wasn't just one, all... For some reason as soon as I click on the controller settings, the game lags big time. Can't select anything so I end up just sticking in the pad and it detects it fine but I can't change the settings... I thought it was just my old motherboard USB ports, however it does it on my new one too and controller settings in Windows (Both XP & VISTA) is very dodgy so I gave up on the wheel aspect.

pffft :P

i missed evo + race on a competitor for a tenner, so got it on steam for 17 :(

however got the wheel for stupid cheap so i dont care :D
