GTX 1070 - any takers?

Trust is for MM only and if there are warnings then of course I'll shut up.

There should be a thread about this as everyone uses this mid range /high end argument when discussing GPUs and it's inescapable due to everyone having their own opinion.

Personally I enjoy discussing/arguing a certain point of view, I find it funny and believe it or not, would prefer to win so we can all agree and leave it alone :D

The post above yours though is a classic example...low end/mid range/high end are all part of the same scale apparently.

It is the same scale...

Each generation has new cards; new cards fit into the sliding scale.

Currently the 1080 falls in the Higher end of the mid range. just below the 1080TI.

Start a thread on it then instead of filling this one with pointless arguing ,I'm glad that you enjoy it however there are more people from what I've seen that are disliking your arguments cloging up this thread.

You've pointed out the need for a thread yet you won't make one and you know people are getting annoyed with your posts,so to me that equates to trolling .

We're not saying you're not allowed to have the debate, but this thing has taken over almost every Pascal thread at some point and it's getting tiring. At least go and make your own thread about it if you're that committed to continuing the argument. That way those who want to partake can do so and the rest won't have to suffer.

Also that MSI card looks quiet as **** even under load. Though the conclusion does point out that all the 1070 cards are gonna have the same limitations as the 1080 when it comes to overclocking

I like the look of that MSI card but I can't help thinking I'd be better off with the cheaper "Armor" version. It looks like all these cards overclock to about the same speed.

Still not sure I like the design of the MSI card it looks a bit tacky to me,im loving the look of the inno3d x3 however I have no idea what as a company and there products are like or there warranty.

Regardless of cost (even I think they are a bit high) if people want one they will get one, I don't need one still running everything fine on a 780ti but then again I always buy last gen anyway as I've never had the need to new stuff. Asusual I will wait for old 980ti to come on and get one of those, I play at 1080p so a 1070 is just not needed for me .... yet lol

It is looking like they are all going to be extremely close on performance due to nividia's blocks they've put in place.

Has anyone done a review of the MSI 1080 yet? I wonder if 1070s will have better supply or actually be out around launch if we are already getting reviews of custom cards. If the 1080 supply was being limited by yields then that shouldn't affect the 1070 nearly as much

That could be true. I also read that some chips which were defective for 1080 cards still might be fine for 1070s depending on what the defect is. If that's true then the yields shouldn't be as low

Any word of UK pricing for the 1070 yet? I'm hoping to snag an EVGA 1070 SC as soon as I can, but it would be nice to get an idea of price ahead of time.

Only confirmed price is the FE which is £399.

Going by the 1080 pricing I expect the EVGA SC might be around £350 ish depending on the level of gouging involved.

Previous post got lost in the mid/high range debate.

When are the non FE due to be released?

They'll (probably) be available for pre-order on the 10th along with the non-FE. Nobody knows when they'll actually start arriving at your doorstep though.

I asked Ben about EVGA cards in particular and he predicted 2-3 weeks for the SC and 3-4 for the FTW cards.

Ace, i have the money ready! Just having an hard time not spending it on other things i need for the PC :D

Very good review, enjoyed reading.

Wow it overclocked closer to 2.1GHz while temp at 63C and fans running silent at 38%.

MSI TwinFrzr VI cooler looked very impressive, look like it will blow ACX 3.0 cooler out of water as here was no EVGA 1070 review yet but EVGA 1080 cowcotland review only got temp result and it did not have fans noise and OC results.

If here will be no EVGA 1070 review so I think I will order MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X cos it has the best cooler that ACX 3.0 cant beat it. :)
