GTX 1070 - any takers?

The launch 1080 drivers were faulty as they caused high speed fan RPM spikes Nvidia have fixed that now.

You still need good case fans as always otherwise it will always hit the thermal throttle.

Biggest issue is the launch price. Its supposed to be £399 I doubt it will launch at that somehow more like £430-50 ish which is a little excessive considering within 2-3 months these cards will be around £375 max ;)

Come on ....

Considering we'll have 1070s for sale in less than 24 hours when we'll be able to see £££, there's a lot of wild speculation on prices going on :p

I found online a copy of an announcement supposedly from OCUK that says the NDA ends at 1pm today and the 1070 will be for sale at 2pm.

I won't link to as there's swearing on the page.

Well, the 1070 Founders Edition is available in Vietnam as of this morning, retailing for the equivalent of 389 pounds.

For reference the Gigabyte Geforce 1080 G1 Gaming is the equivalent of 549 pounds here.

Just looked at my ocuk order history. Looks like I paid 330 for the 670 on launch and then 265 for the 970. History will probably show just what a good deal the 970s were. Just sold mine after 18m for 195 and 185.

I would like two 1070s and will do so if they're around the 320-350 mark. At 400 it'll be a head scratcher between one of these with a second once things calm down vs. one of the low end 530 ish quid 1080s.

At 400 I may even grab a 980ti for what will probably be 300-350 and ride it out for the 1080ti

Was tempted to get a couple of these fe edition cards but it's a shame they've downgraded the cooler vs the 1080. Why no vapour chamber?

You just made me realise that it might be possible to get two of the lower priced 1070 cards for the same price as one higher priced 1080. That's nuts. Although I have an ITX system so I can't do that, but it does highlight the potential difference in value

Now I want someone to bench 1070 SLI vs 1080 :)

Wasn't it always like that? Even the most recent gen. when 980 launched at around £500 and 970 at £300 but two of them absolutely and completely destroy 980 for not much more £.

then you'll get the people will say go for the 1080 then you can SLI that down the road for way more gain

:D

The 1070 will more than likely be £399. A lot of people quoted the 1080 FE being stocked at £619 and were bang on the mark. So I can't imagine the same sources being wrong about the 1070.

Could be more, doubt it'll be less. You'll more than likely find there are cheaper board partner cards being released at a later date and of course more expensive ones. Though for now I can't see the 1070 FE going for less than £399. I could be wrong.

Still don't know what card to buy custom if there is any seem to think they can charge what ever they want and founders having throttling

Will be interesting to see what the cards end up being priced at.

I have budgeted for a 1070 FE at what I consider an acceptable price but, if it is more than that I will just hold off purchasing for now.
