GTX 1070 - any takers?

Disappointing pricing, but hardly surprising surely.

Bearing in mind the 1080's are all £500+, mostly £600+, the 1070 being high £300's running into £400's is hardly surprising is it?

What's the average 1080 price? Just over £600? Seems likely 1070 will be just over £400 on average.

1080 price -30% = 1070 price.

Things will drop over time tho as usual.

Why is everyone shocked at £400? That price for the FE has been confirmed for weeks . High end customs were always gonna be about the same if not more.

There will still be some decent enough custom models for around £350 though.

If not here (gouge central), then elsewhere

But anyone with 400 quid to spend on a gfx card can surely raise 125 quid for a 1080.

The 1070 at this price is crazy...who in their right mind would buy one? When the 1080 at only a few quid more gets you so much more performance?

Yeah... who'd have thought 1070 pricing would make the clown card suddenly look like the most attractive buy lol!? :p

It really is a silly price.

So the 1080 was expensive and price gouged...but then again it is the fastest card available so if you want that you pay for it.

But this card? I don't know where it fits? I thought it would be an upgrade for those on the 900 cards. But at this price it isn't worth it. (especially if it overclocks as poorly as the 1080) Nor is it targeting people on lower end cards, because they will all surely go for Polaris. I don't know who is going to buy this card? Even people on the 700 series cards. Why would they buy this when they can wait for Polaris?

Odd.

I reckon this is not what nVidia want and they realise that they've f'd up with the FE prices. They still take the blame.
I think the price they sell to AIBs is the price that the non FE MSRP is based on which allows the partners a modest cut. Nvidia probably planned to clean up $$ with their own FE at high prices while stocks were low, then make money from large volumes of cheaper AIB (at normal margin) cards when supply rose. However, the high FE prices just allowed the AIBs to get a bigger piece of the pie,and less will be sold because prices are mad, but nvidia still only gets per chip what they're selling them to the AIB's for.

I reckon nvidia tried to milk the best of both worlds and are going to lose out big time and that's their problem now.

Ofc I could be completely wrong and it's all going to plan or gouging isn't as big in the US as it is here.

Strange plan if it is unless they know that AMD will be nowhere or have pre planned price cuts when supply rises.

I don't know why people are saying £400 is normal. For the FE, yes.

Look at the 1080, the EVGA FE is £635. The EVGA FTW (custom board, dual bios, bla bla bla) is £609.. Soo can someone tell me why the EVGA SC 1070 being the same price as the 1070 FE is normal?

  • EVERYONE cried foul at the 1080 FE price
  • 1080 FE sold out everywhere in hours.

Go figure. No point complaining if your going to buy anyway. Nvidia don't hear forum whining, they only see sales figures.

Seriously do Nvidia think they can keep raising the price of GPUs indefinitely? Are we going to be seeing £600 GTX 1170s, £800 1270s, £1000 1370s etc?

The problem is the cost of development keeps going up year on year, if Nvidia are to remain profitable they have to charge what the market can bear.

But that is the fastest card currently.

I'll be amazed if all the 1070 go at this price...

Its a mediocre card with a premium price....Clown edition is looking tempting...:p
