GTX 1070 - any takers?

There are a fair few architecture tweaks but in terms of price for the performance increase you get generation on generation its pathetic and I'm surprised how many just accept it or worse defend it.

Gotta agree with you there.

In the last few week they have found out that people will pay top dollar for a mid range card. And not only accept the price, but defend it as well.

So, it will be no surprise to me if the 1070 is overpriced as well.

People are blaming AMD, exchange rates etc. Rubbish. You are the consumer, you know the price is too high. Don't buy the cards. And don't give out about the price and buy anyway. People who are in the know on this and other forums should be spreading the message that the price is too high. Forget about the stupid brand defending crap and start voting with your wallet.

The Gaming X has a small RGB logo on the top edge, along with some (rather dim and crappy-looking) red LEDs on the front of the cooler. The Gaming Z, assuming they do a 1070 version of that, also has an RGB dragon badge on the backplate.

even if the msi 1070 was lower I wouldnt buy yeah its the best looking card second to the FE but I had fan issues with the msi 970 with one fan only spinning and having to jump start it by giving it a spin id rather go for the evga even tho it doesnt look as nice I could still get some plasti dip to accent the metal red to go with my h440 and red cables

Apple tactics are the new standard for GPU manufacturers it seems.

Pay 600 quid every year for a slightly better product.

Zero reason to move from my 970 if these prices are accurate.

I might have stretched to £350 at a big push.

really hope hardly anyone buys one of these.

I've no issue with someone building from scratch getting one as they don't have any real choice if they need a card now but anyone who doesn't really need one of these would be doing every pc gamer a favour by holding off.

This :).

I might have to pass at those prices. I was expecting the FE to be the most expensive cards, not the cheapest. I have about £350 maximum to spend.

Remember when everyone was moaning about the 1080 and 1 week or less later, they were all caving and buying the FE because they couldn't wait? :D

I wonder how long before that happens with the 1070. People will hold off and moan for a day, then they'll buy it anyway. Welcome to the free market, make sure you lube up because Nvidia sure ain't bringing any!

This is puerly speculation but based in fairly solid clues.

AMD will be releasing a $300 card. It's not the 4GB or 8GB 480

So one can suume its a 490?

Most charts I've seen online put said "490's" performance on level with the 1070.

So £2xx or..... £400+

If you can wait a while....you know you should.

True but the 1080 IS the fastest card money can buy.
The 1070 is a much harder sell. no one "needs" this card.

AMD should release a ton of info on their Polaris products on Monday at the PCGamer part of E3, we all know they wont, but they really should, just to stick the boot into Nvidia lol.

Those 1070 prices are utterly ludicrous

To be fair, there are 4 "none FE" cards priced below the "FE" of which 2 are blower editions and 2 customs that I can see. Still overpriced, but they are "cheaper"
