GTX 780 Owners Club

Again for benching try and use the 125 strap with a BCLK of around 129 or 130, this overclocks the PCI-E slot as well and on some of the benchmarks works quite well.

unfortunately my board does not like overclocking on the bclk at all, i cant even get it to 103 without crashing, my overclock is purely multiplyer atm, hench the reason im only at 4.3, think i might have to get a new board maybe.

Can you get the CPU speed above 4.3 as this will help with your bench scores.

Having said that for gaming I only run my CPU @4.0 with the in game settings turned up and don't have a problem with bottlenecks.

I also did a run in 3dmark11 using your settings and allowing for the difference in SMX modules it turns out your card was running better than mine lol.:)

no 4.3 is about my max, but to be honest i cant be bothered spending too much time testing different settings, so for now 4.3 is plenty especially for the games i play, i'm not particularly bothered about my 3dmark score either, i just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with my setup.

Guys I'm in a quandary. Do I buy another 670 4gb ftw for my rig or do I go with a 780 sli setup

I'm using 3x24" dell 1920X1200 monitors
I'm in the queue with the evga step up program for the 780

Hi I have a similar set up = have a i7 950 OC to 3.8. Currently using a 580GTX. Interested in upgrading to either a 680GTX or 780GTX to match the coming consoles (Xbox1 and PS4). The 680GTX should match the new consoles' GPU but just wondered whether my CPU is sufficient.

Question why I ask - it is whether to upgrade the system completely as my CPU and anticipated GPU (680 & 780) may not match the consoles?

My vote for funniest post this month :D

The 780 setup will be much more expensive as you will need to buy 2 cards (even considering the money you get selling your 670.

I have gone from 2 x 670 (2GB cards) to a single 780 but I game on a single 27'' 1440p screen. I actually don't think there is a massive difference in frame rates in games comparing 2 x 670 and a single 780. I play Wow and BF3 mainly.

Depends what games you play and whether you feel 3GB is enough.

Just thought I'd post a few pics of the 780 as stock and after fitting a water block. Apologies for the number of pics but thought some will find them interesting in this thread. Also apologies for the quality. They were taken with my phone (Lumia 920).

Here is the box:

The 780 in all its glory. I have to say it looks stunning in stock form. Just like the Titan.

Seemed a shame to crack it open but here it is underneath:

Back of the stock cooler. Those thermal pads are very thick but positioning is not very accurate. Also they slathered the GPU with paste! Lastly the stock block is very rough in terms of surface. Nowhere near as smooth as you'd expect.

One redundant stock cooler!

GPU all cleaned up:

EK Waterblock and backplate in place:

And finally in the case:

The temps are great. Idle around 22C with ambients of 20-21. At load, max 30-31 C.

Couple of benches:

Overall, I am thoroughly impressed. I really don't miss the 2 670s. Also the minor stuttering the sli setup used to occasionally give (in wow raids) has disappeared. I am tempted to only ever game with single GPUs from now on but with the most powerful single card I can afford.

Very nice, enjoy your new card :)

Nice rig :)

I agree and its what I've done for a while. For overall smoothness, which I value more than outright FPS, it is atm the better option. I'm probably going to go custom loop with my next CPU upgrade, looking forward to having no more worries with temperature.

I know what you mean about the 670's, I've just done the same and the experience is much better, as you say higher FPS isn't everything and does not always translate to the best gaming experience.

How does it OC under water?
