GTX 780 Ti Specifications Leaked – Full Blown Gk110 Core with 2880 SP

I think silicon melts at 126c, not 100% sure on that but I know its a figure between 120-130c. :)

So 95c is pretty cool, compared to melt down point. ;)

So let's say at about 110 it probably softens up a bit lol. :D

Yeah but Fermi was to hot as well :p

Obviously AMD will try and make 95c seem like a positive, but we know it's not. It's hitting the limits of 28nm and needs water to really shine. Non ref coolers will do a better job, you think third party vendors will be aiming for 95c on their non ref parts? Hell no, everyone wants lower temps, less throttling :D

It's not great no, but that was probably a compromise on the reference cooler to bring the card in at a price which made the 780 GTX look a bit silly.

I can tell you safely that even with 1.36v through it the reference cooler was more than ample to cool the card within the target temperature without being overly loud. The whole thing has been blown way out of proportion.

Well I think I'm going AMD again until 20nm, from the other thread Gibbo's reply to me,

If it was my money, R290X, waterblock. Because like you 4GB of RAM is the sweet spot, especially if your thinking 1440P, 1600P or 4k and latest games.

Also it seems AMD's new driver gives much larger improvements in games compared to benchmarks and its in such circumstances where R290X *MIGHT* indeed topple 780Ti or certainly match it.

The performance is incredibly close, but are awesome cards and both overclock like crazy making them even better! :D

Doesn't it throttle at 95c, as the card intends to stay around 95c at the most, so it'll throttle to run at 95c if it has to.

I can't see a positive spin on that :p

That said, I certainly don't need to run 100% fan to keep my R290 under 95c at 1200MHZ in gaming.

power target at max%

55% fan

1.36V

6200 mem

1175 core

Stuck at 92c through Firestrike and raped my Titan

I'm torn due to the lack of choice at the moment, I think 3GB at 1440P is cutting it pretty close. Might even just keep the Titans.

That cooler really is ****, I don't think anyone can argue with that.

Honestly, I wish they either sold bare cards or ones with water blocks fitted that weren't a hideous rip off.

lol ^ I think as a compound yeah but not with regards to any kind of component. The PCB would melt before the silicon :D!

Virtually all manufacturers data sheets will list both the minimum and maximum storage and operating temperatures for their parts. Further many parts will be available in multiple versions designed to operate in more strenuous environments.

So for example an integrated circuit (IC)may be available in the following versions:

Commercial 0-70°C. Industrial -40 to +85°C Military -55 to +125°C.

It's not so much the heat generated in the case that's the issue, it's the irritancy of having the room heat up so much that you end up sitting in your pants that's the problem.

If they had better coolers which let them run at 10 degrees less they'd still heat the room up just as much as they are still outputting the same amount of heat. The better cooler will just dump it out into the room more efficiently. In fact it would heat the room up faster!

Bet it was someone like Lambaahbaahtexthingymajig. They always list stuff early, and the funny part is they don't ever have any stock

Looks like the SC might be available at launch...Gibbo???? :D
