Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 (2023)

Is it just me but I really couldn't care less about gotg 3, even with the rumored deaths of 2 characters . The trailers and tv spots just leave me shrugging my shoulders, all seems a bit meh.

I'm looking forward to Blade - moreso given the rumor that Mahershala Ali told them to **** off with the 1st draft that they had written and submitted. Just needs to be closer to the Wesley Snipes version than current Marvel movie iterations.

not sure Wesley's Blade can be topped to be honest, One of my all time favourite films

Seems the expected box office sales for this are below GotG2 and barely on par with Ant Man 3. Has the Marvel bubble burst due to the **** they have been pumping out on D+, or are people just sick of comic book movie's? (Figures below are for the US)

Helen O'Hara at Empire, who liked GOTG but is not a fan of GOTG Volume II, gave it 4/5

Which chimes with the 80% critic review score on Rotten tomatoes

Oh well I've got tickets for Wednesday.

It's been the only marvel thing I've been interested in for a while.

Gotg2 was a dissapointment After the original. I'm sure this will be better. Gonna be sad too, especially Rocket. I know it's not real but he's been one of my favourite things to come out of the marvel factory

More reviews are rolling in now, generally mixed with the main idea being "Ok-ish film but a franchise past its prime" -

Guardian - 3/5 -

BBC - 3/5 -

Telegraph - 2/5 -

Independent - 4/5 -

Rolling Stone - another MCU "mis-step" -

Roger Ebert - Fun but cast too big -

Probably a bit of both, I think there is a lot of tiredness over all "superhero" / comicbook movies really, not just Marvel.

Oversaturated, and most of it is awful. If it's all the same crap being redone and redone. People will stop watching it.

It worked before because there was gaps and a timeline, so it made the user wait. Now there is so much Marvel crap, it's hard to keep up.

Less people are going to the cinema than before COVID, ticket prices have risen and total box office revenue is massively down.

It's not surprising Marvel have lowered their expectations, especially when comparing it to a film released before COVID.

Top Gun Maverick, Super Mario Bros and a few others says hi, If it's well made it will perform.

Yet other "post-COVID" MCU films have still made around a Billion (Spiderman/Dr. Strange etc) so the money is there to be made.

8/10

A little bit all over the place and a few hiccups on humour but honestly I really liked it.
It's not as good as the original but wiped the floor with 2nd.
Honestly don't see the hate. It was fine. Really fine and I've never cried at an otter B4.

edit: Ive read some negative reviews now and i think some people just think its cool to hate Disney/Marvel right now, which it is when they produce utter garbage with no name diverse directors, but this was half way decent, yes its past its prime... but i still cried at an otter. Nice and decent ending.

Lol

Saw it earlier - I preferred 1 & 2. It felt very different, I don’t think in a bad way, just not really what I was hoping for.
