Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 (2023)

With 5 being average I thought it was around 4.5/10.

It was watchable, predicable but did give some backstory. The issue is - do we care about the backstory?

Zoe S just seemed bored as did most of the other crew.
It'd be interesting to know how much the film resembles the original draft. I imagine it was reworked quite heavily after the project stopped for such a long time. The actors had probably all moved onto other things by the point it finally came back again

It's the oddest think isn't it, they've left it until the "last" film to suddenly introduce an entire stand-alone backstory which doesn't link into the first two films in anyway, making the whole thing a dead-end when Rocket's story could've been a 20min section of another film like Drax got etc.

The only way I can see it making sense is if Rocket "takes over" with a new cast for the next GoTG film as the rest of old cast leave after this one but that would be a huge leap of faith in the "bankability" of the character of Rocket to carry a new part of the franchise.

Come on losers get to the cinema

I wanna read your worthless opinions :p

I did get to the cinema, in fact, twice recently. On both occasions, I went to see Mario :p

In all seriousness though, I think Guardians 3 will be the next film for me as I'm hearing good stuff about it. I have seen Guardians 1 but not 2.

Did you not watch the post-credit scenes then?

Do yourself a favour and watch 2 and the Christmas special first :)

I've not seen the film at all, have I just spoiled something for people in which case I can spoiler my post?
Basically, yes :p

But don't worry about spoilers now, the film has been out long enough that people who want to avoid spoilers should be staying out of the thread anyway.

Just got back from it, I'm surprised this isn't getting better reviews. I thought it was easily better than the second and close to the first. Soundtrack was great (opening bit with Creep and the fight with Beastie Boys being absolutely stellar), it was really funny (good to see Fillion got a bigger role in this one!) and the bad guy was surprisingly good. Rocket's backstory hit me in the ******* feels.

Watched it last night. Not really a fan of Marvel films but loved the first one. Enjoyed the second one and put this on a par to that really. Amusing in places and entertaining enough.

Hearing good things but can’t drag myself to the Cinema to watch it after the embarrassment of this phase.

Will pick it up on home release.

People are forgetting this is Phase 5!

From phase 5 it's definitely better than quantamania, I just don't know by how much

Honestly, it's high up there with prime marvel content. It doesn't even mention a single thing about the latest phase 4 rubbish. First movie that can stand in its own and it really does.

I rarely push anyone to go see a film, but I think you'd be unwise to not go to see volume 3 for the reasons you've given.

I don't want to say it's a perfect film, as it has its faults, the main villain in particular for me, but other wise, the jokes were spot on, clever, great story arcs, great simple conclusion to each characters story that relates to all 3 movies, great pacing you won't feel like you're waiting for it to be over.

Go enjoy it. One of the few cinema movies that left me feeling like this is what cinema is really about and why it's a shame it's dying.

8/10 - deffo a movie to see in the cinema and was flipping awesome.

First is the best, with Vol 3 a close second - less said about Vol 2 the better.

Quite dark and sad in some places, but Quinn and Groot fighting together was awesome!

Wrapped up the trilogy very nicely.

Watched this morning, to say it's the 2nd week out cinema that seats 700 people had around 50 in there.

Enjoyable film, gets you in the feels at times and quite dark which they played well with humour when needed, felt like a send off which is what it was.

For me this has been the best Marvel film we've had since phase 4 started.

Watched it on the big screen this afternoon and it only half delivered for me. I saw Vol 1 & 2 at the cinema once each time, so it's been a few years, but my main memories of those were that they had a lot of heart, humour, and great retro soundtrack (80s songs and earlier).

I thought this one had a different style from what I remember. At one point I was getting major Tron Legacy vibes. It felt very hit and miss to me. The soundtrack was a mixed bag, some songs a bit newer than what I expected from Guardians.

It just seemed a bit low in the entertainment department compared to previous efforts. I didn't find the dialogue entertaining and half of the time characters were arguing and shouting at each other. There were some good performances in there though, but not enough to save it from a poor screenplay and lack of cohesion.

5/10
