Guild Wars 2

New profession announced, Engineer.

http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/engineer/

Masters of mechanical mayhem, engineers tinker with explosives, gadgets, elixirs, and all manner of deployable devices. They can take control of an area by placing turrets, support their allies with alchemic weaponry, or lay waste to foes with a wide array of mines, bombs, and grenades.

Like elementalists, engineers use a single weapon set at a time, but they complement this weapon set by equipping special utility and healing kits. These kits provide the engineer with special weapons and backpacks loaded with a full set of skills to replace their current weapon skills.

I knew it was going to be an Engineer :D. It was the most popular community requested class for GW1.

And the last is the mesmer, just wait and see.

I think I will make an Asura Engineer for sure since they are meant to be technical crafting magical things. Elly seemed to suit the Asura best, but I want a human elly, human mesmer, norn guardian, and charr warrior.

And then I will also have an Asura engineer and a Sylvari Thief :)

BTW Evilsod, I tried out thunderclap + fevered dreams, but I also added technobable for perma dazed:

1 hour 28 min FoW completion :). I also tried a Bip necro.

The only problem is that the hero wouldnt precast fevered dreams, so I had to manually click it on larger mobs before spamming my conditions. Thunderclap + Technobabble had enemy casters permadazed.

Oh, and I also joined an awesome elf party yesterday :D

So torn on what to make my main in GW2.

Will definately be a human/norn and either range/necro/mesmer/thief/ele (only 50% of the profs :p)

SO UNDECIDED.

Engineer will make a fun alt, nothing else really.

Yea I'm gonna make all my alts on day 1 for birthday pressies :p

The day I get this game will be devoted to filling all my character slots and customizing my apperances :D

OMGAWSH I wanna do that now! Please please release a character creator before the full game.

Haha, hopefully it is very customisable, gotta get a list of names ready too.

Really looking forward to GW2 but never really played GW1 to it's full potential. I heard some things from GW1 are being carried over to GW2, is it worth going back to achieve of these things for GW2?

Looking forward to GW2, thoroughly enjoyed the first one right from that first E3 beta week they did. So i'm thinking about going through and getting the achievments for GW2 now that 7 hero parties are in - but so out of touch with the game that I have no idea how to put together a party build (or even pick a class). I looked through the gwxwiki but was a bit lost to be honest.

So i'm going to put together a hero party to run all of this, but for s**ts and giggles want an all female harem of heroes. What could I put together out of these?

Edit: Nevermind my account has been blocked for some sort of issue. Too much hassle to go through unblocking it.

Weapon Kits—These are utility skills that equip a new weapon in the engineer's hands when activated. For example, the flamethrower kit creates a short-range AOE weapon the engineer can use to overwhelm foes. The flamethrower has skills like Immolate to damage nearby enemies, Air Blast to defend from ranged attacks, and Backdraft to suck enemies into range of the weapon's powerful attacks.

Backpack Kits—When activated, these special utility kits equip a backpack that replaces the engineer's current weapon skills with a set of more specialized skills. For example, a bomb kit puts a backpack on engineers that allows them to deploy bombs with a variety of effects including smoke, concussion, and fire.

Turrets—An engineer can deploy turrets: immobile allied devices that help defend and control an area. When a turret is deployed, the skill in that slot is replaced with its overcharged version. For example, an engineer can deploy a Thumper Turret to cause AOE damage, and then activate the overcharge version of that skill for a big thump attack that knocks down nearby enemies. An engineer can interact with deployed turrets, packing them up and moving them around. This removes the turret—and the option to overcharge it—triggering a short recharge before that turret can be deployed again. Only one of each type of turret can exist at a time.

Tool Belt—An engineer tool belt is a set of special skills above the weapon skill bar. It enhances the effectiveness and functionality of the engineer's utility and heal skills. The tool belt can add a self-destruct skill to turrets or a detonation option to all mines. When paired with the grenade kit, the tool belt allows a grenade barrage; with the med kit, it adds a self-healing skill.

It looks good and I am excited about GW2. But guns? Not sure if they have a place in such a game.

It is interesting the polar shift in fantasy MMOs regarding guns. There was a time where it would have seemed unthinkable to have shotguns and rifles in a fantasy MMO, yet now it almost seems that each fantasy MMO which comes out has guns in them. Its gone from becoming the unlikely, to the norm.

Depends on the culture of the fantasy universe...

Most of them have Dwarfs and they tend to use gunpowder as an explosive. If you spend long enough in any fantasy genre they will inevitably progress to guns. Look at Lord of the Rings, they had the 'concoction' in Two Towers to blow open Helms Deep. Guns would just be another step.

The 'Shadows of the Apt' books are good in that regard.
