Yep, still loads playing, just make sure you are on the American servers or it'll be a ghost town.

The American (read global) servers are still damn busy.

Kamadan is always packed full of traders, as is LA to a lesser extent, Kaineng has had a bit of a revival with the WoC content, and the EotN (infact most of the Northern areas) are always busy with people doing Dungeons/filling their Monument.

Remember also that you need to get your Hall of Monuments filled up to get all the free bonus goodies when GW2 comes out :D

I still play GW every night.. I'm currently working on getting my 2nd account to 30/50 (my first is already 50/50).

So I'm doing ZVQ's and dungeons when the ZB comes up for them.
 
Seriously looking forward to this game, I think all the hype about it has finally caught me :rolleyes:

I have got some time to kill before it is released, so I was thinking of buying GW1. Would it be worth it, just to play through GW1 to be able to understand the GW2 story much better? Do both games connect storylines? Or is GW2 just going to be a complete new storyline in its own new universe?
 
They will connect, but GW2 is happening 250 years past the events of the end of GW1, so it won't be integral to understanding the story I imagine.

Give it a whirl I say, there's still an active community in PvP and PvE.
 
I have my main account at 46 points atm, and have 3 wanted quests in Kessex Peak stacked on all my PVE characters that will get me enough war suppplies for my 15th weapon and 47 points.

Then all I have left is obby armor for +2 points (I HATE grinding ectos and shards, even though its easy peasy), and 3 more titles for +1 honour point (Survivor, Luxon, or a few Eotn grind titles will do the trick).

If I also want to get GWAMM, I need to max all the consumable titles too and I hate those. They cost too much for the items, and I dont like farming consumables / ectos / shards.

The only farming I enjoyed was bosses for green unique weapons, but those things are completely worthless now for the amount of time it takes to get them.

I want to get my second account to 30 points too, but that can wait because I will only have one GW2 account on launch, then a second a few years later when it goes super cheap, providing that muti launch will be possible so I can use the second account to hoarde my valuables.

I'm playing my main account bit by bit, normally I play for a few weeks when I get a craving, then get bored and play something else. I only have EOTN and consumable titles lest to get. Survivor too but thats easy and I'm leaving it till the last one so I can get everything else done first without fear of dying.

For the obby armor, I'm playing through Eotn dungeons to get Master of the North and reputation title points, and using the money made to simply buy ectos, so I make progress on my remaining titles at the same time as getting obby armor materials.

I have everything done in the 3 main campaigns - Legendary skill hunter, cartographer, defender, protector, vanquisher. I just want to get Eotn done and 50 hom points, which which get me to 26 titles in total. Then if I want 30 titles, I need Survivor (easy), and Ale Hound / Connoisseur / Party Animal which I HATE. Hopefully I can get all that done before GW2 though, and then I can work on my second account after GW2 is released.

^^ This is relevant because HoM rewards and GWAMM carry over to GW2 :p. I want to max them both.

What are the easier Hall of Monument titles/achieves to get?

Haven't really played GW since completing Nightfall and have just ordered Eye of the North to try and max out my HOM rewards before GW2. I'm pretty unaware of the current state of the game and the relative difficulty of the current titles so if anyone could run through the best ones to start with it would be appreciated. I already have an obsidian set and I'm confident I have the minipets for the mini achievements but I have no idea how much the destroyer stuff.. etc is.

Edit - If it matters I have minimal plat (Probably about 10) but about 100 ectos to fund achieves.

Edit - just realized you already have obby armor, you could give me 29 ectos if you want so I have 105 :p (currently on 76).

Easiest statues if you have completed the main 3 games is Skill hunters, reputation titles (Sunspear, Lightbringer, EOTN ones) all the missions done on both NM + HM with masters rewards, Fellowship monument (hero armor upgrades are easy peasy to grind in the relevant challenge missions, and Fellowship is the fastest monument to fill), one of each weapon (tormented, oppressor and destroyer), and 20 minis including one gold and green. If you want the 3 points for a PVP title, eternal zaishen supporter requires 200 z keys to obtain.

Also complete all the elite areas one time for the HoM statues - UW, FoW, Sorrows Furnace, DoA, Urgoz and The Deep. The only hard ones to find groups for are the last two factions ones, the rest are easy.

You dont even need all the titles I mentioned, 5 statues including zaishen supporter for PVP is plenty, the other stuff is then a lot easier.

After 30 points if you still want to fill lthe rest, just use the calculator as a guide and wiki whatever you still need. It just takes absolutely ages to get all 50 points though.

I'm completely uninterested in the HoM. It was a cheap way to increase the games life span imo. Very little content has been released, it's really quite bad. The recent WoC is just a complete rehash of the campaign but in reverse so it's hardly anything worth while.


Rehaul of FoW would be nice.
 
Getting the full 50 points from scratch will take forever. Will also take a while if you don't have a great deal of gold. 30 points will take its time but its simple enough.

Urgoz and Deep its probably best waiting for a Zaishan event for them. Though I suspect Deep will be pretty unpopular even then for pubbing.
 
I'm at 35 points atm, maxed out Fellowship and Resilience.

I've got a ton of Honor trophy's that just need tiping over the bar that I'm working on:

Eternal Bookah - r9 currently, just need one HM book to max
Eternal Ebon Vanguard - r9 currently, just need one HM book to max

All 3 Cartographers + Legendary Cart - ~98.5% in all three continents, I just sooo can't be bothered scraping that last little bit... i'll get round to it eventually :D

Guardian of Tyria + Legendary Guardian - I've already got Guardian of Elona/Cantha + Legendary Master of the North, but I just HATE Tyria missions, so I keep putting it off, I'm about 2/3rds through doing it and just do them when they appear on ZM days.

Saviour of the Luxons - I'm in a Kurzick Guild, so i've never really bothered with Luxon faction, but now we get Imperial Faction it makes this a bit easier, currently just r1, but a weekend of JQ or AB will snag the r4 needed for the HoM.


So doing those will get me up to 38 points.


Currently saving up some coins for a Tormented Weapon, and one more Destroyer Weapon, that'll get me 2 more points (+1 for Torm, +1 for 5 weapon rack), netting me 40 points total.

Then i'll go for ZKeys (+3), and finishing off my mini collection (+2) for 45 points.

Sod the rest :D 45 will do.
 
Ive got about 4 points and i cant work out how to get more. Ive played through a bit of EoTN but not worked out how to get more points :( I probably just need to spend more time playing.

GW still has the most content for a FTP MMO, plus the missions are very varied whereas a lot of other MMOs are just massive wastelands with nothing different to do in them. Anet werent going to release any new content after EOTN because they went straight onto making GW2, but they still had a small team dedicated to keeping GW patched and updated, plus some new end game content.

WiK became my favorite thing in the game, though I hated the amount of flagging you had to do it on each character, and then it could only be completed once :(

Battle for Lions Arch is just pure awesome, or at lest it was before they nerfed the difficulty.

I'm not interested in the new Cantha stuff they put in though.

WoC is so bad. They put zero effort into it. Just hoping the next bit they bring out is a bit more varied.

I mean i've VQ most of Cantha, in theory i've already killed every damn Infected there is to kill! So surely I shouldn't have to purge anywhere :p


WiK and HotN on the other hand was good fun, good to be fighting Mursaat and Jades again :D
