Guild Wars 2

Just noticing there are some casual players posting.

Just wanted to say don't sell your weapons drops.

Get to Lions Arch and stick 4 of them into the mystic portal and get an awsome weapon in return.

I stuck 4 blues in (level 6-9 rated) and got a lvl 14 hammer (I'm at 13 3/4 at the moment.)

I'd heard and read about this portal but never seen it before. Also Lion's arch is worth a visit in itself as it's fantastically drawn (clearly one of the early spaces created in GW2 as the detail is immense.) Sadly even with my 7850 card I had to drop the distance from Ultra to High to avoid popups :(

I'm also going to visit another area as I'm fed up with Norn snow all the time hehe

Ah cool, I wasn't sure whether that was what you were supposed to do. I was levelling in the Human zone with my friends so was staying around there. I have seen plenty of other areas but thought I'd be able to do everything around Kessex :)

I had the same problem in Kessex on my Guardian, went to the Norn starter area knocked that out and came back and blasted through, KH has some really nice vistas and a fairly easy jumping puzzle too :)

I was on Desolation...as soon as I moved out of the starting area I hated it , Could barely find anyone to do champions late on in the night.
moved to Gunnars Hold.....much more populated

What guild on GH Amnesia? My friends one is completey dead and seeing as I moved there to play with the sods I'm rather annoyed!

Just so you know, the Mystic Forge is random. So sometimes you might get something good, other times you might get junk.

It's luck of the draw. Also you will only ever get items +/- one quality level from what you put in.

So if you put in 4 blues, you'll get white/blue/green back (obviously less chance of getting green).

Also, what you get back can be of any type, so you might put in 4 pairs of medium boots, and get back a cowbell.

Yeah you might get an awesome wep or armour in return or usually you'll get some other useless crap.
Still, what I have had from there has sold for some reasonable coin. It's all basically free anyways because the items you chuck in come from drops.

My advice: salvage anything white, chuck blues in the forge and check greens and golds on the trading post before doing the same.

So is that just a random load of mystic forge stuff and they pop out?

It's a very specific set of mystic forge recipes, it takes a lot of skill points, a lot of karma (which can vary as there is a random factor to one of the mystic forge recipes), a lot of gold and a lot of time.

3/6 exotic now on my warrior (chest, legs, boots) - crafting was ultimately worth it imo, even though im spending about 1g per exotic item in crafting materials (i tried farming but it takes forever)
Had to transmute the chest piece though just because my lass likes to show her assets haha.

A lot of skill points?

The mystic forge items you buy from the vendor cost skill points, with the most expensive one costing 200 skill points.

As an example of cost here is one person on the gw2 forum who tried to calculate his weapon he wanted:

Thinking of working towards the “Predator” and looking at the complex requirements I decided, for fun, to approximate what I need.
Where I could I priced stuff for gold , and karma/skillpoint is approximate as the clover recipe is chance based.
basic requirements :
100s of hours of gameplay
100% world completion
level 400 in huntsman crafting
level 400 in leatherworker crafting
500 knowledge crystals(dungeons)
500 badges of honour(WvW)
320 skillpoints
925000 karma
520 gold

And some things like the karma cost can easily go over 1 million karma if you are unlocked with the mystic forges random number gen.

Haven't played this for a week or more... Perhaps it's the 'impending' arrival of X-Com that's preoccupying me. Then again, M&B Warband has got it's hooks in to me again.

Yeah Mystic Forge can be gash :p

Had one useful thing in 40 or more levels :p

Ah, the Forge... Such a great way to go from four relatively worthless items, to one completely worthless item. :D
