Guild Wars 2

Sounds like raiding to me.

Out of curiosity, what MMO are you playing now?

Not playing a MMO at the moment.....I tried WoW again after I stopped playing GW2, but as I played that for so long beforehand, I just cant get gripped on that either.

GW2 was a good game....I just didnt like the PvE style of lack of trinity and lots of deaths or downed states.....just a personal thing and no slander on GW2 as a game....just purely personal preference.

And you mention its just like Raiding.....which I dont think is quite true....the context that GW2 does it, is that you rush in and keep coming back after ressing if you die, while the fight is still going on until the boss is downed.

Wiping in a boss fight as you didnt get the tactics right in a RAID is not what I meant.

Thats what I said Dist who did it on the same toon, found the chest open and could not loot, the people who swapped toons/overflows got the loot twice!

First you come on here calling people liars, then you don't even follow the conversation, I never said Dist got the loot, I said he found the chest to be open, which means no loot!!

Well the way you worded it "Dist had the chest open" made it sound like it opened again for him 2nd time. I'm just speaking from my experience and what someone representing ANET on the forums told people. I switched to my guardian and got nothing 2nd time so it was either glitched or it worked for some and not for others.

If other MMO's had constent "in combat rezzing" then (imo) it would be like the PvE in GW2

I really enjoyed the event - it reminded me of the Coldain Ring event from Everquest. Had terrible lag in Lions Arch on the 1st night but on the final night the lag was gone but just had culling issues not seeing all the mobs. Luckily the Ancient Karkan or the larger veterans never disappeared so there were some epic sights while pushing it back to it's nest that looked like full scale war ;) Shame our overflow didn't care about the swarms from the rear at the final fight, I downed on the ramp and got to watch while the rest finished the mother off.

well did the new event tonight and had abit of a laugh .. wasnt to laggy but was abit chaotic .

No items that were much use to me but the 20 slot bag and trinket are nice .

Grouped up with a few mates and asked them to drag me around a higher lvl area so i could quickly get to 60 and get my new book/gear and we all got banned !!

We have all submitted tickets but we have no idea whats going on . the reason given on all our accounts was botting which none of us do .

Below is the screen i get when i try and login . Not amused at all !!

Persil, in case you get your account re-instated, check your trust email.

Here is my Warrior, currently working on getting some SE skins, got a long way to go though. I like to mix and match skins to give a unique look, i really need a decent 2h weapon skin. :p

I really want to get into GW2, but im just not sure what to play, im having a bit of a cake and eat it moment i think.

What i want is a class thats solo, group and pvp viable, i know they probably all are, but i dont want to level up as a squishy type that has a 50/50 of each fight solo.

Im after something fairly solid and robust but also thats wanted in pve groups and pvp groups.. thoughts anyone?

I dont mind range or melee tbh

Warriors can do pretty much everything including using a warriors longbow which is debatably better than a Rangers longbow. Go figure. It's universally agreed that Rangers are the most messed up character in the game with some frankly usless weapon and pet mechanics so you might want to miss that until they fix it, if they ever do. Thieves are generally massive damage and are thoroughly enraging in PvP due to their ridiculous ability to completely disappear for absolutely ages, even if you've virtually killed them. They just use their 1 uber disappear skill and bugger off leaving more often than not raging at my PC at this frankly stupid ability to perma kite without consequence.

On another note I came a accross an absolutely MENTAL elementalist in WvWvW the other day who literally wiped me and two other players - and he got me two more times later on. I didn't stand a chance. Crazy build and a very skilled player it would seem.

Basically, the forums generally agree that Necros and Rangers are pretty buggered at the mo, for a number of reasons.

The other characters, well, they all have their plusses and their pitfalls but if you want to confuse the crud out of people go Mesmer.

I don't know if that helped at all. GL!

P.S. My only lvl 80 is a Ranger (go me!) and I love every bit of WvWvW and actually seem to hold my own despite all the issues Rangers suffer. I don't bother with sPvP (full of Thief and Mesmer cookie cutters) and for PvE the Ranger is actually a pretty nice option.

Might give Warrior a whirl actually, ive never really played one in any mmo ive played, might be a nice change, big stonking armour and a 2h weapon to cleave peeps noggins off!

I originally leveled a ranger to 80, did about 95% world completion, then made a warrior so I could level with my Mrs...

Haven't played my Ranger since, Warrior is just so much more fun.

Guardian. Their ranged ability is limited (although not as terrible as some would have you believe) and it takes some practice to get the hang of PvP/WvW, but find the right build for you and you are laughing. I solo'd mine all the way to 80 easily, and he can still wander around Orr farming or gathering high level mats without any problems at all.

I also solo'd my thief to 80 using a condition build. Again fairly easy, but lacks the survivability of the guard - if she gets mobbed, she dies, and less useful in groups. Mostly use her for WvW now, which is great fun :D

Should add that both of these are in full exotic gear - which isn't cheap/easy to get hold of quickly, but persevere after 80 and you'll have a character that can keep you entertained for a while yet :)

I completed the event twice on 2 different servers with 1 character, and only got loot the first time and the second time I did the event on a different overflow it showed an already opened chest, and was not usable. Every single person I've seen who switched toons as well as overflow got an un-opened chest each time they completed the event again. For some people this was huge as with multiple level 80 alts it resulted in a ton of people getting the pre-legendary exotics.

Few GW2 Questions actually.

1) Should i explore every map fully, unlocking the chest reward for each? im guessing yes
2) What level do dungeons start? are they worth it?
3) Whilst levelling is gearing every few levels really important or can i just mow through and worry about gear at 80?
4) Is Crafting my own gear a viable route as i level? or am i better buying from an AH?
5) Levelling stats? HP and stuff that makes me hit harder i guess?

Thanks guys

Si

1) I think it's worth it, but I'm a completionist and I love to explore
2) Shamefully I've gotten a character to level 80 and still have never been in a dungeon. I will eventually. They start at level 30 and I think come every 10 levels, but that's all I know.
3) It shouldn't cost you much to buy new gear every 10 levels. I used to vend the old gear for about 60% of what I'd spent on the new stuff, so didn't really see any loss, but the difference in power on my character was definitely noticeable.
4) I'm not 400 on either of my professions yet (laziness), but I'm yet to really see a particularly worthwhile use for the ones I have. It's cheaper to buy gear off the AH as you level, and once you're at 80 I'm not sure any of the best stuff you can wear comes from crafting. If you didn't get experience from crafting I wouldn't do it at all. I don't know anything about cooking, though, which is different to the rest.
5) Find what part of your character you enjoy most, and follow that. Toughness and vitality give you survivability, precision and power make you hit & crit more damage, condition damage works with dots. Boon duration, healing power etc. are self-explanatory. I prefer the glass cannon route myself, relying on movement and dodging to stay alive while I blow the hell out of everything.

Probably should've left that to somebody who knows more about the game, but I felt like typing for a bit.

I love my Necro. He's pretty hardcore and if they buffed him I would love to see how powerful I could be.

Only bad part about it is the pets are broken and half the time they don't do anything :p
