By the time you get around to making them, there will most likely be even more legendary items available so you would have more choice by then anyway :P

So i made a warrior last night and joined some Euro guild called HERD or something, anyhow explored Hoelbrook and got the chest for doing all the map thingys, got 3 of some transformation stone things.

Then i went out and battered stuff and got to level5 and then logged for the night, all in all though i was impressed with the warriors sturdines and ability to smash faces in, im liking it!

Just need to find a decent build now with 2h Weapons and figure out how i actually place points and stuff places! yes im a total GW2 noob!

I just can't do melee in gw2 for some reason, just end up getting mauled :p

Is there some trick to it?

Dodging. Lots and lots of dodging. That plus keeping moving, stay out of aoe rings, try and hit from the side/back so you don't get hit by damage/condition cones, and be prepared to retreat and recoup.

Also stacking up on Toughness to reduce incoming damage to somewhat tankable levels.

And don't go 5 sigs! They're fine when you're starting off it's a nice easy build for early PvE, but later on you want to be more shouts/banners.

Greatsword does ridiculous DPS, and 100blades just tears through most stuff, but it's a very offensive weapon, you have to rely on killing quickly and avoiding damage. While GS are very cliché, and it seems everyone and their mother is using one because they look awesome, they are also actually really very good.

Mace + Shield is super tanky, lots of vit and toughness, lots of stuns, interupts, weakness, it's a more traditional support/tank set up, but you sacrifice a lot of dps. Combine with healing shouts for a very guardian-esque/paladin type build.

Swords are all about bleeds and stacking condition damage rather than pure dps strength, they rely more on dot.

Hammers are great fun :D They make you feel awesome, and have lots of KD, they don't have the raw dps of greatsword, but they are great for keeping an enemy on its backside while your party mullers them.

Warhorn I've never bothered with.

Axes have ridiculous attack speed, they are full on berserker weapons, charge in and let rip, great for glass cannons that just want to tear stuff to pieces and rely on their party to keep them standing :D

For PvE you can pretty much melee anything without much problem. Except dungeons, where you'll want to take a Rifle/Longbow, as some bosses will just tear you to pieces no matter how much toughness/vitality you have. Sometimes its best just to keep them crippled and take them out from afar. I personally prefer Rifle to longbow. Rifle is more damage to a single target, Longbow is more AoE.

You make it sound amazing, will give it another try I'm thinking :)

Don't take it as gospel, that's just how I play and my opinions on the various weapons.

I'm sure others feel very differently.

My current build however to give you an idea is:

GS + Rifle

You can swap out the banner for Signet of Rage when you're going solo. And shouts can be switched around as needed.

My Mace + Shield build is:

Mace + Shield

Damage sponge, tons of toughness and vitality, near constant weakness and vulnerability, three stuns, party wide buffs and condition removal from shouts and banner, plus every shout heals the party. :)

Everytime I play this game, no matter what resolution, what settings I have the game at, it will constantly flicker between resolutions and refresh rates. Which means I get a black screen every 15-20 minutes for 10-20seconds. Is there any particular reason for this? So bloody annoying!

I know this has been asked before, but it's pages back and opinions might have changed since then due to experience...

Just started a Thief and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for me?
I'm liking dagger/dagger and pistol/pistol as my weapon combos, mostly for the Dual Wield abilities.

What I'm less sure about is utility skills and traits.
Is the Heal where you basically do life steal worth using?
What about the other signets?

Also, for the minute I spend most of my time soloing the character. So while it will be nice to be able to change a few things around for teaming, I'd like the most effective solo build I can muster.

Thanks.

I used the condition build in this thread to solo all the way from low teens to 80. It worked very well for me, but I did have an 80 guardian main so could keep the gear as shiny as possible.

It's basically a condition build that uses Signet of Malice (the one you mentioned) which gives you health for the damage you do.

Run in>spam Death Blossom for bleeding stacks>sit back watch mobs bleed whilst you heal any damage you might have taken.

It doesn't make you a thief tank but it does mean you don't have to go toe-to-toe with every mob you see, and thus, works well for levelling when you can sometimes get overrun.

Enjoying the Warrior Now I know how to play melee, cheers Hex! Up to 18 and having fun.

Got my third exotic on Necro, damage is sweet now.

i am quite close to 100% two zones. the only thing that i need to do are one or two skill points and the vista's.

I am really enjoying this game. Enjoying it soo much that my wife says im an addict lol.

On saturday i teamed up with a party who had 2-3 people who all knew eachother in a new zone i encountered in the snow. level 40-50 zone and we did over half of the zone together playing for a few hours. i really enjoyed it. the guys and girls were really nice and friendly. nice banter and nice area. it was the dredgehaunt cliff.

i like that zone. it has some cool hidden caves there and down below south of the zone, there is loads of events happening filled with dredge enemies!

a nice chap from the party showed me how to get to the vista down the south of the zone. it was challenging. took us maybe 20mins to get to the vista climbing up the little tower mixed with some tricky jumping puzzles!

Trying to get to level 80 by xmas.

i am now level 54 :)

I dont play much fifa nowadays. i mean i love my footy games as some u know but this game is too good to put down. cant wait to get to level 80 and then get another character to level 80 :)

i can see myself playing this game for months on end.
