Guild Wars 2

I had an amazing night last night with The Immortals.

There was about 10 of us and we completed Claw of Jormag (first time for me) Shatterer (again, first time) Megadestroyer then Temple of Lyssa in one long run. Was a great laugh, especially the Temple which took quite a while and some failed Seal defending before victory.

We dragged loads of randoms along wherever we went so was a good laugh and rewarding (made 3g off events and stuff to sell on AH)

Great game, still equipping my Necro with DE gear so taking ages saving up 42k karma a pop but it's fun getting there! Also got my new warrior alt just 20 and having a ball with him.

Only thing I "force" myself to do daily is the daily achievement so I can get the 5k karma flask, need it for what I'm buying :) apart from that I just wander and enjoy the events I come across :)

Tried to complete the PVE game again last night but as usual the gate to Arah was closed. Is that place ever bleedin' well open? Pure chance on whether you're on or not when it is. Unbelievably frustrating.

Anyways, I continue to hit WvWvW every day now. Heading towards half a million karma. What should I spend it on? Seriously, is there any karma gear/weps/accessories that's as good as the exotics gear (with gold accessories) I'm already wearing?

I'm a Ranger by the way...who says Rangers are rubbish in WvWvW? I seem to do ok, even though I do admit some of the base mechanics of the class are horribly broken still - pet can't hit a moving target anyone? ;)

Closing in on level 70 myself :p, sat at 46% map completion though. Been running through Timberline falls and have 1 poi and 1 skill point left for 100% zone completion there. Did the "Only Zuhl" jp and found the other one down the bottom of the map, looks a pita.

The WvW has been pretty good fun the last couple of times I've logged on, don't know what has changed but we (Gandaria) have been 'winning' and it makes a big difference to how many people are in the mists when your server is doing well as opposed to trailing last, which is Gandaria's usual postion :D

Arah is quite often closed, as the event chain to open it up gets bugged, so it can't be played to open it up. It is normally fine just after a server restart, so when there is a patch, the next morning it usually works for a while.

If you already have exotic weapons, jewellery, and armour, then none of the karma gear is any better, your best off saving up your karma to spend on some of the components to get your legendary weapon (which will eventually be upgraded to be on par with ascended weapons; when they are added into the game)

Remember, Jugs of Karma are affected by Karma Boosters, WvW boosts, and Guild Karma banners.

So it's best to save up a good few jugs, then pop a karma booster +50%, grab a +5% banner, and make sure you are in a home server (not overflow) for the WvW boost, and you'll end up with about 7000+ karma per jug ;)

Yeah Arah has been buggy since day 1, really does need a fix asap.

As for Karma, you'll need about a million karma to get your legendary weapon (should you go for one), as you need 250 Obby shards (2100 karma each), then at least 77 more for your Mystic Clovers, but as it's only 33% chance to get a clover, you could end up needing as many as 231+.

So assume you need 481 shards, that's 1,010,100 karma you're going to need to farm :D

Good news is, you're already half way there ;)

Ah nice tip! Cheers!

As a Ranger does anyone have any tips on the best set of accessories for crits and also a set for condition? I'm guessing I'll have to TP them and they'll be exotic items? I'm currently kitted out with gold items.

Ideally I'd like a set of both so I can run either build to the max or have a nice healthy mix if I need to.

Also what runes do people run? I play a lot of WvWvW these days but don't have a complete set of runes on my two armour sets, as such.

I was checking out Superior Runes of Divinity but Jesus wept they're expensive at nearly 6g a piece! I just don't have that kind of money!

For crits / glass cannon build you'd want Berserker trinkets. For conditions you'd either want Rampager or Carrion.

As for runes, the Superior runes of the Ranger would suit you, or Superior rune of the Eagle.

Ranger gives you a +5% damage boost while your pet is alive, Eagle gives you a +5% damage boost while your enemy is under 50% health.

Both give +8% crit damage and +165 precision.

If your looking for a rune for your condition set, id recommend the rune of the undead, gives good survivability and condition damage, plus 5% of toughness becomes condition damage.

Love the fact that some of the original content that released with this game is still not working. Events were bugged day 1 and still are. Game is a total joke and all about grinding. Way more about grinding gear than wow. Never felt more of a loss of £50 except maybe SWTOR.

Good for you.

Thre are the odd broken events which can be frustrating but when you have a whole dynamic world there are bound to be teething problems.

On topic, re runes, can you remove them and replace on gear?

This post screams wow fanboy.

first post in a while that made me chuckle, cheers !

Despite the accusations of the quoted post being from a WoW fanboy, I do sympathise.

I've got my Asura Engineer up to lvl 80 on the Underworld server and I'm now feeling a bit 'lost'. I've got 3 alts but they aren't really doing it for me either.

I'm not in a Guild (though I know it's 'Guild Wars') and I just keep respawning in high level areas, exploring, getting killed, respawning etc etc.

I played GW1 and loved it. I flipped between GW1 and WoW for a while, but GW always brought me back.

But, I'm now bored with GW2, and don't know where to go in the game next. A lot of the chatter in the game does seem to be about grinding armour, enhancements to armour etc. The last event was a laggy zerg-fest.

I'm not going to give up on GW, but I'm bored.

Is there any advice for a lvl 80 noob?

You really need a Guild. This game is so much better played with others. We do dungeon runs pretty much every evening. Go do jumping puzzles in teams. Dragon events. etc. etc.

There really isn't any grind in GW2 unless you want prestige items. You can get a full set of rare armour without even trying. And a full set of exotics doesn't take that long.

The only items that are a time sink are Legendaries (and to some extent the new Ascended pieces, but they are going to be rebalanced so they are easier to get in the future), neither are required for normal PvE/PvP/WvW play at all.

Guild Wars is mostly built around PvP so get yourself in some sPvP and WvWvW.

Never understood why people think this.

I can honestly say in the thousands of hours I put into GW1 I maybe played 10hrs of PvP... EVER... over 7 and a bit years...

In GW2 i've put about 400hrs+ in and i'm yet to step foot into PvP (other than to run through the hub to LA), and WvW i've only done for map completion and my Monthly reward :p

GW is all about the PvE for me, and always has been.
