Guild Wars 2

Despite the accusations of the quoted post being from a WoW fanboy, I do sympathise.

I've got my Asura Engineer up to lvl 80 on the Underworld server and I'm now feeling a bit 'lost'. I've got 3 alts but they aren't really doing it for me either.

I'm not in a Guild (though I know it's 'Guild Wars') and I just keep respawning in high level areas, exploring, getting killed, respawning etc etc.

I played GW1 and loved it. I flipped between GW1 and WoW for a while, but GW always brought me back.

But, I'm now bored with GW2, and don't know where to go in the game next. A lot of the chatter in the game does seem to be about grinding armour, enhancements to armour etc. The last event was a laggy zerg-fest.

I'm not going to give up on GW, but I'm bored.

Is there any advice for a lvl 80 noob?

As someone else said, get a guild :)

I'm a lonewolf leveller, I'm jump in DE groups and enjoy things but I'm quite content to toddle along myself and for the most part you can.

At 80 though you need groups, you can't solo pretty much anything in Orr so get in a guild and ask for help. It's not like other MMO's with a LFG may h up system where you can still play solo and get a group without speaking. You need to grab people and drag them along. Last two night for me have been amazing, I've started organising groups myself and had a great laugh with Guildies in DE's. From there two of us (others came and went) 100% a zone waiting for the Shatterer, great fun.

Also don't stay silent in Orr, the map is populated by people too scared/lazy to start a group. I'll turn up somewher solo (was Temple of Lyssa last night) and start things off. I'll spam map about the event what waypoint/POI I'm near and others who were hanging round join in. Lyssa which looked impossible was completed am hour later by about 40 of us, ask and they will (pretty much always) come.

If you are looking for a good guild Immortals from here are still going and it's still quite busy.

how many of you guys still plays? i dont know why some people complaining because this game has lots of action and is really fun and easy for the most parts. i mean most exotics are easy to get with a group (a guild) of friends, or worse cones worse you can just buy them fron the player's market.

there isnt anything needed to be grind out except the legendarys and crafting (it took me forever to max out the stupid cooking! dont know how people in gw2 survives because there is no food there!).

pvp and wvw is pretty cool especially with and against friends. anyway my character's name is daizenger. i am in a warrior (also made a thief, but its pretty low level now) in gandara. i am only holiday at the moment but lets play when i get back:)

I never play anything else. 400 hours in i have two 80s and one 40, not touched PvP or dungeons yet. Ive got a lot more miles to go yet. This thread my seem a bit quiet but that because everyone is too busy playing the game to post about it!

Im a bit jaded by the game at the minute, mainly due to how hard it is to make any money. I was off work last week and my level 80 was just entering Orr. I spent most of the first 4 days farming Orr events to try and get some money. I think I managed about 6 gold over the 4 days. I coudlnt finish the sorry off because Arah was bugged.

I had a break from Orr and did a few Fractal dungeons which were kinda fun, but difficult in greens and I think I would get bored of them doing them a zillion times to get Ascended armor. I should really of tried some regular dungeons I guess but you feel like you have to do the fractals now or get left behind as everyoone gets to higher levels.

Really enjoyed levelling though, and I think its the best "world" Ive had the pleasure to explore. The attention to detail is amazing.

You're better of farming young karka's in southern cove rather than Orr. Only good place for me in Orr was plinx event and it got nerfed. Grenth is good with a decent group if you keep failing it so you can continue to loot mobs. The young karka's drop vial of powerful blood which sells for 25s each. Found around 7 in an hour the other day as well as a few rares.

You can make over a gold in about 30mins ever day just by collecting all the Orich Nodes.

If you're on Gandara then the map is here:

http://gw2mats.net.ms/

Simply map in, run to the Ori nodes, mine, run to the next mine, etc until you have them all.

There are:

Forstgorge - 2
Southsun - 3 (one Rich which is equiv of 3 nodes)
Malchors - 5
Cursed Shore - 5
-----------------------
17 nodes worth

Each gives 3 Ori Ore, so 17 x 3 = 51 Ori a day per character.

Ori Ore currently sells for 2s 8c a piece.

So 51 x 2s8c = 1g 6s 8c

Plus any Omnomberries/Ancient/Elder wood you happen to collect along the way.

You can easily get around 1.25-1.5g/day just from that, and if you have more than one level 80 you can do it on each of them.

Just load up on running and condition removal skills and off you go.

I usually go do it before I settle down to play properly, just go for a quick jaunt around, grab my ori, bank it, then go do whatever I like.

As for Fractals, I wouldn't worry about Ascended gear, nor getting left behind on fractals, there'll always be people with new characters that need to progress through the early ones. Also, they've already said that Fractals isn't meant to be the only source of Ascended gear, and that they made a mistake releasing it along side Fractals, and that in the future there will be many many ways to get Ascended quality items. Also that Ascended quality items are being looked at as the material cost of upgrading them etc is disproportionate atm.

Other good fun, non boring farming ways of making money is just to play the normal dungeons, all bosses now drop around 20s, plus bags of wonderous goods, which contain a few silver plus karma, plus dungeon tokens, then there's chest loot, completion reward money, drop loot, and then you can cash your tokens in for lv75+ rare armour and salvage them for ecto's (worth 30s a pop).

i am in desolation server. where do i go to get Orich Nodes?

I find making gold rather difficult but at the same time I kind of like this, it reminds me of older MMO's where making money was tough. I've got just over 14 gold and I'm really pleased with that :p

I'm never loaded, I spend too much on random things :D

Kinda wishing I'd not sold those 100 Unid Dye a couple of weeks ago now >.<

Bought them when they were at about 2s a pop, sold them for 3s each (after tax) thinking "yay profit!", now they're at over 12s each /single tear

http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/20323 (change to 1m)

Feel my pain!

I make a decent living from WvWvW. Anything I've ever bought from the TP has been funded by fighting and capping in there (and I always buy siege equipment and have to repair my armour too, so that's an everpresent expense). Even so, I'm still starting to consider going for Commander (100g) in a few weeks at the rate I'm making money and the amout of experience I now have in WvWvW. It may not be the fastest way to earn cash but with the silver, bronze, drops and loot bags 2-4g a day is easily achievable (I only play a few hours a day tops, and not every day at that).

I find making gold quite easy on the Trading Post. If your finding gold hard to come by I strongly recommend you try your hand at it, I made over 40g in the last week or so, and thats with about 30mins most days messing about on the TP.

It really is as simple as buy low and sell high, there are some great profit margins on some items. I'm not going to give any more help than that though I'm afraid, or I wouldn't be able to make money myself!

It's a lot of fun watching the gold rise :) May be enjoying it more than the game itself atm! haha.

Does anyone know how the dyes on the right side of this picture, work? is it like a preset ?

Also what is the advice to make a balanced character, as opposed to glass cannon or full toughness/vitality and hit like cornflake.

can it be fine tuned using the rings and amulet and runes slots or is it simply a case of get some armour with power, precision and crit* and some pieces with toughness, vitality and w/e ??

at the moment i have 1 temple exotic and 2 crafted (knight) exotic pieces; i am hoping to get the full inquest set from Crucible of Eternity but use transmutation stones to keep the 2 knight pieces.

my character is a guardian. :)

*your stats

Good advice. I'm currently on Underworld server though I'm thinking of switching (which is still free?) as it seems very quiet.

Immortals guild is on Desolation? May swap to that or Gundara which also seems popular.

Immortals are Desolation, seems a busy server too. I'm sure there are ocukers on Gandara too, I may be wrong though.

Thanks for the tips.

Just ran into a wall on levelling my tailoring. Got to 380 and I'm missing the loads of the additional mats like totems, fangs etc to push through to 400. Best bet is Karka shells but there a wee bit steep at 3 silver each and I need 20 per recipe :p

Hate farming but already burnt through 6g getting runes for silk bags (1x20 and 3x 18 slot bags now :) ) do it may have to be farming :( 18k more karma for next exotic then down the farm route I'm thinking!
