Guild Wars 2

How many characters do you have Outline? I ran my first one from 1 - 80 and then ended up taking a 6 week break as I was bored rigid with the game. Since then I've been playing several characters, rarely on one for more than an hour unless I'm running a dungeon raid for the guild! Much more fun.

Tip for anyone who's starting a new character, don't do your personal story until level 68+, you can get to 80 very quickly by starting it late and skip most of the end zones entirely if you want to. Alternative do what I did and skip the annoying level zones you don't like (I didn't have to do Glendarran fields at all!) by starting them in the 20s or 30s..

Just one above 20, the others haven't grabbed me much.

I love the structure of the game, it's just failed to grab me on every occasion I've given it a chance.

Does anyone else have this happen.

Every toon I have created (highest is 40 I think). I do each starting area I follow the route of the hearts. 1, 2, 3, 4 etc but I never seem to get to the same level eg just done another toon (ranger) I have finished the 1-15 area, but I never seem to be at the same level as the next heart. I am all ways 1 or 2 levels below the next heart. I do everything I can on my way.

I hope that makes sense.

I had the opposite problem when levelling as I was trying to complete everything that came my way.

The trick is to remember that there are many dynamic event quests that are part of a chain but nothing to do with heart quests.

Quite often, once you complete an event hang around for a minute of two. The event NPCs should start follow up dialogue resulting in a new quest, or they will either move to another location (again, possible escort quest) before starting follow up dialogue for another quest.

If you hit an event chain at an appropriately early stage, you can follow the event sequence all the way through. Usually most event chains conclude with a boss battle, which tends to attract near by players, so don't worry about not being able to complete a chain:

Because I was a little OCD about doing as many events as I could find from start to finish, I usually found I would complete a zone 5+ levels over the actual level range for the area. At level 80 I still have about half the map greyed out due to having to skip content for level appropriate rewards. The new patch should fix rewards however, so you should always get rewards appropriate to your actual level.

This game has finally hooked me :D

Don't know why but I've tried to get into it many times since launch, and now I'm finally liking it.

Level 14 human engineer which suits me perfectly.

Oddly engineer is the only class I've not managed to gel with yet and I only have Norn/Asura characters as I didn't like Charr/human animations (at least the male models..) :D

Just picked this up with a Game voucher, no idea what to make. Worried ill make a bad character/race choice

You can't really make a bad choice race or class wise or a combination of the two which is one of the strengths of the game. Heck even if you completely mess up your characters spec (which must be near impossible to do) it costs you a tiny amount to completely reset it.

The Godless are on Desolation.
PM Logann Darrow in game if you want to join.

Oh cool, I had no idea The Godless are back for GW2! :) I got my start in GW1 with you guys back in 2005, and stayed until several months later when there were only a handful of us left who were active players, and we all left and joined the Amazon Basin as a group.

I didn't realize there would be a GW2 guild as I didn't see a dedicated thread in here. I joined the RPS guild instead (we're on Gunnar's Hold atm, we were on Desolation during the BWEs but it got too populated and we got sick of the queues), there's a small group of us who WvW every night and it's a lot of fun even though we're pretty outnumbered during prime time this week.

But yeah, since you can be in multiple guilds at the same time I'd love to join you guys as well and guest over to Desolation for the occasional pve from time to time! :) I'll whisper one of you in-game.

So who else is around from back when the Godless was founded? I was Cornelius van Sporg on my pve main, though after we moved to the Basin I spent more time on my pvp monk called Bald Chick Corn.

lol - for newbies like me would be nice (I may have missed a warning though) - for a warning on how critical/important the initial server choice was lol

I just picked one by random - Whiteside Ridge, had no-idea

(1) you couldn't change it (I'm used to FPSs lol) without quite severe cost

(2) it was account - not character bound

lol

Were a good bunch on WSR. Contact 'Pazzaa' or 'Exiii' and we will get you into the biggest guild (and best) on server, Neuro Emphatic. I am War Spitfur.
