Guild Wars 2

Yeah wvw annoys me when you're losing like this week it's insta entrance and quiet.

Winning and all the pve bods come zerging in for easy rewards. Wish there was someway to measure wvw commitment and then have a queue jump :p

This week is really frustrating but ho hum :p

It doesn't help that there appears to be a problem with the WvW queues since the Feb patch. Some folks get in after a few minutes yet others can spend an hour plus in the queue. I've noticed it when I queue from an overflow it can take a very long time to get in, yet it can take a couple of minutes from LA or Gendarran Fields. Very frustrating when half the guild are in the queue and we're getting stomped by the French :p

I think it's just more people are interested, it's the same even on medium pop servers like mine. (I'm on Gunnar's hold) The only way to test if there's a bug with queuing from overflow is to get a guildie to queue up at the same time as you from a different instance. Desolation IS the most populous EU server so I think queues are to be expected.

I wanted this game badly on release but then when it came down to it.. I just played Dota instead.

I am still keen to know if its worth a go. Is it good?

I reckon you'll like it bud. I'm also trying to get Vince started at the same time, was talking about it last night at the match.

On that topic is the free friend invite still going or was that only during the Karka event?

On a different note, Ranger players what weapon combos do you use? I'm using both types of bow at the mo but not sure if I would benefit from a CC weapon and drop a bow. Advice?

I use SB and Axe/WH combo.

The SB is main. I break out the Axe for when there is lots of mobs and AOE is needed. I like the WH offhand buff.

Nah mate there is a problem. We've tested post patch with a bunch of guildies, it's just random when you get a queue pop but seems to be quicker from non overflows. We discovered it when I logged in said hi, moved to LA non-overflow, queued for Deso border and got in after 2 minutes. There were guildies on who had been queuing for 45+ minutes who weren't impressed :D

We've been doing more testing since then but it seems totally random

Agreed short bow over longbow.

And definitely axe. The swiftness skill that comes with the horn is good but I prefer torch (for PvE) cos you can set fire to things. :D

This is actually what put me off ranger - I ended up using a shortbow and axe/torch combo all the time. It just seemed superior to all the other weapons for most situations.

I tend to use both bows and just switch regularly, keeps me on my toes more than the axe/torch combo, although can't help but admit it is very potent.

Got an Abyss dye drop last night, no idea whether to sell it or not, chances of me getting another one EVER? lol Ranger would look all Ninja with it on his Whispers armor too..

Use both bows, originally used SB + axe/torch whilst leveling but since then I find it more fun to have the longbow as my backup weapon. No way it's as high DPS as SB/LB but I just enjoy playing that way, keeps me well back from mobs too usually which is handy for taking on champs.

Best thing about GW2 is the different ways you can play one class due to weapon combos :D

I never use torch on my Ranger.

I'm usually partied with an elementalist so my Burn damage either gets pushed off or is applied via the combo field anyway. Not to mention unless specced and geared for condition damage, ranger condition damage isn't that great.

I personally use a Shortbow - sword/warhorn combo and swear by it with the spec I use, if I can't risk going in for extended periods of time with my sword on whatever encounter I swap it out for axe.

Sword DPS > Shortbow DPS but obviously at a greater risk :D

Yes go for it. The personal story quest is good. Plus you never really play solo anyway because just by walking around you get drawn into events which has you joining in with other players.

Mark gives a shout if you want a few people to chat to now and then, tiny guild and we don't force anyone to group etc. There's one event a week (friday evening) where people can come if they want to - but there's no pressure to do so.

Handy for advice if nothing else mate, I usually end up running about the same zone as one of my mates from the guild and we do team up occassionally but it's about as informal as you can get at times, it's just mates playing the same game and having a chat about random guff! On Desolation as Atkin if you need a hand.

You get higher priority if your standing in lions arch waiting.
