Guild Wars 2

Getting soooooooo boring on tier 1 now.

Every week Viz and Elona tonguing each others ***** and double teaming Deso. I could understand if it was short term but they do it all the time every week and Elona doesn't seem to care they are Viz's whores the whole time.

Whilst you get some fun battles still it's solely getting your head kicked in week in and week out gets tiring.

Indeed, I do enjoy some of our skirmishes against the French, but I am looking forward to a change. We've had some good fights particularly with MoS, WL and GHO. The rest just seem to avoid direct fights and prefer to sit in towers/keeps surrounded by a crap ton of siege, or run away :D

Aye.

One point yesterday we had Elona smashing in south door and Viz on the north at the sane time. They got in and killed The Lord but we fought them off lord ressed in time for the north wall to come down, we wiped Viz, as we finished with them Elina got in, we wiped them too then rampaged across the map taking all our forts back.

Deso is getting much better in wvw through the fact everyone in top tiers seem to bully us :p

Is the 26th just an extension on the new story arc?

Completed the first stage and interested in what happens next.

26th is the next part of the Flame and Frost storyline ya.

Also will be adding Guild Missions

Previewing from the TP. All of AC's bosses have been redesigned (mechanic wise) to make the fights more interesting.

Plus a load of other updates.

After watching a ton of videos and reading a lot of pages from this thread, I finally cracked last night and bought GW2. Only managed to get about an hour and a half in last night but so far I'm enjoying myself :p

I'm on Desolation and looking for a guild that'll take a n00b in so I'll be in touch with the OcUK linked ones on the first page

this could be interested we did a few AC runs last night as a guild and it was most of our first time in there so it could be nice to see the changes tomorrow evening! Got to get people their monthly dungeon runs before Feb runs out :D

Yeah, they've said they are working there way through the dungeons updating the fight and mob mechanics.

Giving bosses multiple 'stages', or the ability to mix up skills and not follow rigid attack patterns etc.

Looking forward to seeing the changes.

We've been doing Arah lately (just path 4 to go), and it's by far the most polished dungeon out of all of them. There's so many cool mechanics in there and interesting boss fights that you just don't see anywhere else.

It was so busy in the human starter zone last night.

Was helping a friend get started in the game and the zone was full of new players chatting away, was surprised by how busy it was and nice to see newer players getting involved too.

We did Arah Path 4 last night. It only took us 3.5hrs... >:|

We churned through the first 90% of the path no fuss in about an hour or so, taking we weren't skipping anything and killed everything we saw, we decimated Lupicus no problem, then we got to Simin...

If you don't know about Simin (be thankful!), she's a boss that constantly casts petrification on random members of your team, there is no way to remove it yourself, someone from your team has to throw a Dwayna's Tear (scattered around the cave) at you to remove it, which is pretty annoying as you essentially lose 1/5th of your DPS as someone is constantly having to throw tears at your party...

That wouldn't be too bad if Simin wasn't a DPS race. At 50% health she goes invisible and invulnerable and starts regenerating her health. She will stay that way unless your party can pull 5 sparks from the edges of the cave to the central statue... which wouldn't be too bad if the Sparks didn't have the AI and pathing of a brick...

So all the time you are trying to get these Sparks to the statue Simin is regenerating her health, so if you take too long she'll be back to near/full health again, meaning you again have to get her back down to 50% health and try again...

If you do manage to get the Sparks in fast enough you have a 1 minute window to hit her with everything you've got (while fending off constant petrificaton) and get her under 50%... after that 1 minute window she goes invisible again and starts regenerating...

If you let her get back over 50% health, you go back to Phase 1 and have to start all over again...

If you get the sparks in in time you get another 1 minute window to burn her down again...

Repeat until dead.

However, one bad Spark pull, one petrification on a main DPS'er that doesn't get cleaned in time, one poorly timed run for the Sparks... and it's back over 50% and start all over again...

We had 2 Zerker Warriors, 1 Time Warp Mes, and 2 Guardians all coordinating on voice chat and we just squeaked through.

AFTER TWO SOLID HOURS

Several times we'd have her down to 25% health, only for the Sparks to mess up, or someone to get petrified while running with a Spark, etc.

Simin is by far the single worst boss in the game. It's not even that the mechanic is bad, it just needs some serious balancing.

This is a team that has beaten every other dungeon and boss in the game without problem.

TWO SOLID HOURS on Simin alone... madness...

How a generic group, or a random PUG would have any chance of beating her I have no idea.

Anywho, you'll be pleased to know that after Simin the rest of the dungeon is a cake walk, Champions felt like trash mobs after that fight, we blazed through the next few rooms and the final boss of Path 4 is an utter joke, the released fury of 5 tired rage fuelled players decimated it in seconds.

And we got our Dungeon Master titles \o/

Victory Shot - Mokey is too damn tall... (also the photo was taken on a potato)

TL : DR

Arah Path 4 - Simin boss is stupid hard! Took us 2hrs to kill her. We won in the end \o/

I just finished the Arah map in story mode. Not had much dealings with dungeons yet. Is the explorer mode a different map to the story mode?

Yeah, story modes are usually much easier than explorable.

Explorable mode takes you to many places you don't see in story mode, each path takes you through a different part of the dungeon, sometimes paths overlap, but there'll always be new areas in each one.

Arah is the biggest dungeon of them all and has some seriously nice scenery!

If you do go do the explorable, start with Path 3 it's the easiest one by far.

TBH Arah Path 1-3 are perfectly fine, they are some of the most fun you can have in a dungeon, much more polished than some of the others. Path 4 is just ruined by Simin, the rest of that path is of the same difficulty as 1-3.

She's bound to get a nerf before long as as it stands she's just a massive roadblock for most groups.

I need to get back into fractals, need to get up to lv20 (at 16 atm) so I can get some shards to upgrade my rings, and another 250 relics to infuse my backpiece.

First and foremost, the rewards for completing Guild Missions are generous. Not only do they have a chance of dropping a precursor for everyone in the guild who completes them (we can only assume it replaces one of the two items you're rewarded with) but they also provide 50 silver, 2 Commendations (another new currency) and two rare weapons or armour (though loot tables suggest this also includes exotics).

Niiiiiiice :D
