Guild Wars 2

Go to other starter zones or lower level zones, you can also craft or explore higher level zones if you are careful for additional XP. Remember just about everything you do earns you experience except wandering aimlessly about! Explore your capital too, completion XP is usually nice and you'll find the portal to Lions Arch and onwards to the 3 other capitals - then starter zones.

You can also try out PVP at any point using the menus, you don't even have to go somewhere, provided there isn't a queue at the time you'll simply pop straight into it.

Usually I out-level each zone before I've completed the zone though, my thief was level 18 by the time I left Wayfarers (level 1-15) and did Holbrak. Make sure you ask in map chat (red chat /m to use it) as you can pop from one event to the next fairly quickly if people are spamming their waypoints.

Lastly if you need a break I'd suggest rolling another class with a different race, the starter zones have completely different storylines, I played a Warrior 1-80 before trying and alt and I really regretted it as the game started to feel like a chore.

have barely played this and level 19 atm but I find it very poorly designed that I have to travel around the other races zones to scavenge some events for some xp since there isn't enough rather than sticking to a route

i've just picked the game up, I have 2 lvl 11 and a couple of other low level jobbers. the game does a poor job of telling you what to do. it's not like other mmos, there are no guys with questions marks to lead you through each zone so exploring the map and unlocking waypoints is kinda critical. crafting is also like no other mmo, you can get loads of xp from it and if you send materials to your collection they're shared across all your characters.

this was the 4th character i created, it was only on reading the wiki and running around aimlessly wondering what the hell was going on that i started to get it. with my guy now i'm overlevelled for some of the areas in the first zone so it busts me down (annoys me that). but i've crafted a fair bit, gathered loads and done some of the big events.

Did all three dragons tonight, each one was more laggy than the previous one. Jormag (dragon 3) was pathetic, almost died at the end of the first shield wall going down as it was lagging so badly it couldn't take off.

Shatterer simply vanished at the end rather than taking off for most people.

Tequatl's fear effect was more like a rave as everyone stuttered away from it.

Oh and there was an overflow on Frostgorge during the Jormag fight as one of my guild mates couldn't get in zone and had no Jormag in the overflow to fight!

They need to re-think this as clearly long-term if they've improved loot people will still be hitting those dragons in prime time by the hundreds.

Yeah new patch has really really broken the dragon encounters.

Tequatyl never used to lag, now you have no idea if you're attacking or not half the time.

Hopefully fixed next patch. :(

Also the nerf on proc health on crit food is a pain, had to rethink my whole warrior build. Also makes off hand axe rather pointless now (so glad I spent 120g on that 2nd one >.<) as the only reason to use it was for the insta heal Whirling Axe (#5) gave you. Without Crit Food you're better off going Mace or Shield for some CC / Util.

Apparently Mesmer clones don't have weapons in WvWvW since the update and iBezerker has been nerfed. *sad face*

I understand the no weapons thing is a bug but still, that's pretty class breaking in the WvWvW environment. Anyone with more than a single brain cell will be able to tell the difference between the real mesmer and it's clones.

Looks like I'll be running Dungeons and PvE until it's fixed.

Anet really do need a testing server. Every single patch manages to break something.

Also Mesmer Spear auto attack is broken, 100% chance to miss!

Does anyone test these patches before they release them?! It's not like they are little bugs!

Don't get me wrong, Anet do a great job bringing out all the extra content and the game as a whole is fantastic, but they really really need someone to test these patches before they dump them on the live server >.<

Really don't like it when they tweak classes and break them or substantially weaken builds. I am glad that I've got 4 level 80s and have been busy playing 2 alts though otherwise I'd be rather %*$£$ off at the moment :)

They do need a test server though and give the public access to it like DAOC use to do.

Gah how infuriating! Install game and crashes instantly upon starting. Got BSOD once. Had the latest beta catalyst drivers so uninstalled them and put the normal ones on, still no luck. Annoying. :(

Sounds like a corrupted download.

I've got two PC's here running 13.2 Beta 6's (7850 and 7870XT) running it flawlessly.

Are you using Mumble and D3DOverider? If so change D3DOverider to RadeonPro, for some reason Mumble + D3DOverider will stop GW2 from loading.

That's the only time I've seen GW2 crash on startup personally =/

If you want to make sure your download is OK add -repair (after the quotation marks) to the Target in the GW2 shortcut, it'll scan your data files and fix anything that isn't right.

Remember to remove the -repair command after its done.

Running no other programs. I'll try the repair thing!
Umm can't type the -repair after the quotation marks, says not valid file path. Got it haha, didn't need space..
Wow this sucks. That hasn't fixed it. Time to start blaming it on hardware? Don't really know how to test other things other than memtest and that's a chore to get running. :(

Windows score experience thing seems to crash when I run it.. Going to driver sweep everything and put latest beta catalyst on again. Oh wow computer seems to have completely spazzed out.. Formatting and trying again!

Made my Tome of the Rubicon backpiece this weekend and got the boots with the stats I wanted from HoTW. A few more runs and I'll have the coat I want from there too and I'll be fully Cond/Prec/Tough kitted out.

Just a few more daily's to complete to rack up for my monthly achievement and I'll be getting my new amulet with the laurels you get from that (have 20, need 30). Jade Wind Orb, come to me!

There's still so much to do in this game and reasons to be playing.
Apart from untested game updates which cause issues on occassion, ANet just keep on producing.

I'm still loving it.

At the moment i'm deciding if I should buy the Wall of the Mists to match my Reaver of the Mists... or if I should just start saving my gold up for The Predator...

Legendary just feels so out of reach with the precursor costs of around 500g =/ (which is about all the gold I've earned since I started playing).

But then, it is sooooooo nice...

I've done everything I can do towards my legendary (that doesn't cost money), so the rest of my progress is entirely limited by how fast I can get gold...

I've got:

Bloodstone Shard
Gift of Exploration
Gift of Battle
250 Obsidian Shards
Gift of Knowledge

And I did 11 Mystic Clovers earlier on (66 to go).

Indeed, the cost of a precursor is prohibitively expensive.

People need to save an extremely long time or totally luck out in a dungeon or high end event and get one as a drop. That is also the reason why I will not be going for a legendary weapon.

I already have a reasonably spectacular greatsword on my mesmer and the desire to get another one to replace that isn't there. I could go for The Dreamer (shortbow) on my ranger but I don't play her much anymore due to the totally broken trait lines of the Ranger profession. I haven't played her since I created my Mesmer, so that says something as well.

Yeah, I can't see myself getting a Legendary, not until they bring in the precursor scavenger hunt at least.

I don't have masses of time to play, and I'll be damned if I'm spending every waking moment grinding CoF1 for gold :D
