Ahh ok - so you don't really get to try out the characters then, just sample the base levels
Would be nice if you could have brief access to all chars/unlocked to see which would be more fun to level up...

unlike a lot of MMOs, the majority of skills in GW2 are based on the weapon you use, and can be learned within the first 10 levels, so you get to try out quite a bit, and if you focus on 1 character during the beta weekend you can unlock quite a few of the utility skills too. For example in the last weekend test alone I managed to try out 4 different classes and all their weapon skills in 1 day. It's quite simple.

I disagree, I don't want to be given access, part of the fun is earning it. Plenty of people in the beta test are at high levels already.
