Guild Wars 2

I'm guessing there's a lot of Elementalists and Thieves out there. I wanted to go for something a bit different so after trying Mesmer, Guardian (armour looks cool) and Engineer, as well as all the races, I think I'm set on an Asura Engineer. The Sylvari starter zone bored the hell out of me but the Asura one kept me hooked.

Does anyone else see that dungeon armor (heavy armor) bug where it all appears as one kind of generic set? I just picked up the Helm from AC, and it's just your standard lowbie helmet. :/ I haven't heard any dev response about it, or if the skins will be reapplied or anything.

I like having a quest journal, gives me something to do other than randomly killing thing. From what I can tell you have to have gone to waypoint before you can use it though, so you still have to travel all that distance. I'm pretty sure I've had to run for more than 30 second on multiple occasions.
I've now got 2 characters to around lvl7/8.

Personally I prefer discovering it for myself, the quests aren't exactly ground breaking, they're very similar to normal MMOs, the only difference is how you acquire them - generally via nps or live events in the locality. In other words less traveling as it tends to be local.

That's why I don't see travel as a problem. Also I've got a warrior and can use a horn to buff my speed a little as I go - I wouldn't be surprised if other classes have a similar ability, in the capital I found an npc who would give out a 4 min run buff too.

Two characters at level 7/8 do not give you much of a taste of the game though, stick with it and see if it grows on you.

Does this game really look as ugly as some of the gameplay videos i've watched suggest?

I was worried I'd hate the gameplay after seeing so many retard clickers playing the game on youtube. Must say I am so surprised by this game, it's absolutely stunning, the water looks fantastic as does the environment detail on ultra settings. The gameplay is very smooth, does seem quite laggy at times but so did wow. I think the UI is perfect, so easy to use. The main human city is amazing, prefer it to anything I saw in wow.

Really looking forward to entering some dungeons, it does take ages to level though for me.

No idea what game you're playing but I've not seen more than a handful of soloable dynamic quests. Most of them are centered around mass-mobs with/without a boss mob that takes like 3-4mins to kill.

You seem to be disliking everything and not understanding the game at all. I'd just quit.

That part covers him 100% end of ..

Played a thief until level 15 got bored, found it way too hard to level in some points, story quests were tough and would die when I was fighting 2 things the same level as me, so I made a asura ranger, level 12 atm, enjoying it a lot more, will stick to this I think.

For all the people struggling to get XP. Go to the other race starting areas.

I'm a norn so ive been working my way through those areas, but i've also been exploring the human areas and doing hearts/events there too. Even did some of the Sylvari starting area too.

Just go through the portal in your home town which should get you to Lions Arch. Once there you can portal to any of the starting areas. Once you unlock a portal there you can go back at any time.

diddnt know u can go into other peoples starting areas

So who is playing what class and what do you think of it?

Got an ele at 16 and it seems good so far, having no trouble with damage in PvE like some are on the gw2guru forums. Haven't tried it in PvP yet though, played Mesmer in PvP a LOT for the BWE's but didn't like the changes they made so i jumped to ele on the headstart. Playing it dagger/dagger and it's lots of fun, feels more like an elemental thief/rogue more than anything else.

Anyone else finding that the pacing on crafting is a bit off ? Jute scraps and rare raw materials just don't seem to drop in sufficient enough quantities for me to keep up with my huntsman/leatherworking tradeskills. I'm now lvl 19 and in area that wants me to harvest tier 2 materials .... just wish I could polish off the tier 1 recipes first !

So who is playing what class and what do you think of it?

Playing as norn ranger and enjoying it, seems to be my sort of class as i'm not really one for using the keyboard lol (though i really need to get the hang of it) and if i was a warrior/gaurdian in the thick of it i wouldn't be able to see the mouse pointer to click things :p

Slowly getting the hang of using the keyboard more though, being primarily an FPS game it all feels quite foreign to me. Have made myself an Asura Gaurdian, Human elementalist, Charr theif and a sylvari engineer too but yet to play with them :)
