Guild Wars 2

Is it possible to change servers?

in order to change servers, you need to pay gems and it costs 1000 gems to get onto the most populated servers like desolation/ gunnars hold. Unfortunately guesting does not work with WvW and you just get defaulted to your standard server at that point.

The amount of players is also dependant on what time of day your on, I find the busiest times are around 7pm - 10pm, nothing like getting all pumped up for a WvWvW game and then seeing that theres a queue of 20 to get in

Must admit i've not even looked at that yet, what is it in relation to WvW?

It's an entirely separate huge map full of events and places to capture. Holding areas and winning in Edge of the Mists helps out your borderlands in WvW by providing them with extra supply drops etc.

Edge of the Mists is a World versus World map. Its purpose is to act as an extra map for players who wish to play the World versus World format and continue earning rewards even when the official maps are full and has a separate achievement category. Edge of the Mists serves as a testing ground for the new features that may be introduced to WvW, and already provides a new style of gameplay on the floating islands connected by destructible bridges. Victory in the Edge of the Mists provides a supply drop to the citadel in your Borderlands map.

All European worlds will be matched up with one another in the Edge of the Mists. All North American worlds will be matched up with one another as well. Worlds will be matched according to which color they are in the current WvW matchup. For example, all green worlds will be on the same team in the Edge of the Mists.

Each match has a duration of 3 hours and 52 minutes until a winner is decided, followed by a 5-minute grace period to allow players to finish up. The next match starts 3 minutes afterwards.
Scoring tick happens every 5 minutes.

I've not done a single dungeon in all my playtime, are there any that are possible to do solo ?

Some people have solo'd dungeons, but it is by no means an easy feat. Dungeons are really designed for a party of 5.

If you've never done them before i'd suggest going with some guildies, as joining a PUG using the LFG tool will end up dumping you in an experienced group who just want to clear it out ASAP for the reward, and you won't enjoy the experience at all!

I may of missed something a year ago when I tried it, ofcourse I was < LVL80 at the time and that may have a lot to do with it, I will consider the idea. Do you mean SPVP or WVW

Mostly spvp - but again, I don't play ele (I main mesmer and dabble a bit in ranger) so I can't really give any more info.

All I know is that the thunderclaps/phoenix and associated skill bursts can hurt, and requires more guesswork than fighting an x/d thief. Fortunately, being zerkers they are also squishy so from a boon stripping shatter mesmer perspective I only need to secure one solid mind wrack and it's gg. But it goes both ways - in any case that kind of fight is way more fun than bunker vs bunker... :p

Just made my first (and last) ascended weapon. Never again, its just too much of a grind and costs far too much. It became a chore and not fun.
I have an ascended weapon but no more gold :(

It becomes easier.

Personally I broke it down into stages:
- play with all exotics and ascended trinkets
- earn enough gold to level crafting discipline to 500, then do that
- earn at least 60 more gold per weapon before crafting.

Once all your crafting disciplines are at 500 and you have at least a few hundred gold reserve, it does become much easier to get any ascended weapon.

Armour on the other hand... especially light armour... now that is the real nonsense.

I'm thinking of giving this game a go again, how are people finding it? Ideally I want to make sure I will enjoy it, as I'll have to buy the game again. I'm a moron and forgotten all my details.

I don't think you would need to buy it again. Just find out which email address its registered to and reset your details.

I need the serial for that, and the email with the serial was in has been deleted.. I dunno why I ever deleted that email! I guess paying for the game again is what I deserve for being an idiot ^^

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good build for a PvE/WvW/Dungeon Guardian (i.e. not PvP)?

I've got a lvl 80 Guardian which I've neglected whilst levelling a Necro and re-learning my 80 Engi.

So any Guardian build/advice is appreciated.

I am enjoying it a lot. I am very hyped for HoT :D.
Havent played it properly in a few days but every now and again I suppose a break is good!!

you will find it more fun if you join our somewhat unofficial OCUK guild and then we can do dungeons and stuff as a full team, instead of you pugging it and getting a group of rushers.

:D that being said I thnk I am enjoyning WvW more than anyone else here, could use someone on gunnars hold to WvW with lol.
