Guild Wars 2

Didn't get the chance to play much last night in the end, put some work into Straits of Devastation and hit 80.

Just time to get my temple sets now, irritatingly I wasfed 120k karma on the wrong item set, bought cavalier gear instead of berserker

Is it worth getting temple sets of just buying gear?

You can't salvage gear acquired through karma, so while temple sets are handy in the short term, you're better off saving up the gold and either buying straight from the TP or going for dungeon sets with the specific dungeon token - which you can get either through running the dungeons themselves or through the different pvp reward tracks.

Just make sure the dungeon set has the stat you want in the appropriate weight. :)

I'm imagining you need to farm the paths for tokens for that?
Yes - personally I think the pvp reward tracks are easier, but gold and buying off the TP is by far the easiest method.

Don't let me put you off temple armour - just don't go putting expensive runes like tormenting or hoelbrak in there because you won't get them out without an upgrade extractor from the gemstore and they are stupidly expensive.

To be fair it's probably easier buying the stuff from the TP, is TP/temple/dungeon stuff all equal. I know there is ascended gear seperate but the basic top level stuff the same despite the source?

Yeah, stats are all the same for any exotic, no matter the source.

Acended and legendary have the same stats and are a marginal improvement over exotic.

Well I bought a full kit of gear, luckily I had a tonne of laurels from my first play through too so I bought the ascended rings and amulets too.

Next up I onehow need to farm 60g for my superior strength runes and grind a dungeon path for the exotic weapons (got yellows for now from the cultural karma vendor)

So any advice for best place/way to farm;
- gold
- laurels

Really enjoying the game much more on my second play through, loving the dungeons especially.

Best way I have found to farm gold is to go on boss kills, mists and fractals. Get gold items and sell them or break them down to globs and sell them.

Of course you can try you luck and the mystic forge. By sigils or runes (gold) and try to combine them to make high selling ones. I made 200 gold like this once, but can only seem to make my gold back like this now (not gain gold).

Cheers, I'll farm world events interspersed with dungeon grind for the weapons. Laurels I've read you just get for logging in and playing so they should largely deal with themselves.

You could also do unranked pvp - the reward tracks give you a nice steady flow of gold.

Or even EotM train.

But yeah, dungeons, fractals and world bosses are a good source - as well as farming the new maps like the Silverwastes.

Silverwastes? (Remember I havent played for about 9 month before now)
It's seriously boring to farm chests with the shovels, but it's the new map added with the most recent living story - just north of dry top.

The map itself is fantastic - kind of a mix of pve and wvw design.

I don't do this because I want to enjoy my playtime.
