GUILD WARS...

There are two ways to play Guild Wars however they are both linked to each other, PvE is the main Story/Quest mode, as your character gains new skills, these become unlocked for use in the PvP side of the game. It's really up to you how you decide to play the game.

From what I've played of GW, it seems nice, but I find the whole professions system to be alittle confusing. For a perfectionist like me it's difficult to pick which one I want to be!! I've started a new character 4 times in one day!

At the moment I'm playing as a Warrior/Elementalist but I'm not sure if I'll stick with it...

I'm liking it, but it not quite as simple to get started in as WoW was

Chapter 2 WILL be standalone: you will have access to all 8 careers (the original 6 from Ch. 1 and the 2 new ones), minus a few skills. You'll also be able to access all forms of PvP from Ch. 1 (Arenas, Tombs, Gvg). The only thing you'll be missing out on is Ch. 1's PvE campaign (ie. the main storyline), which is IMHO no great loss as it's PvP where the soul of the game is at.

EDIT: If you want to give it a try, there's gonna be a special event to showcase bits from Ch. 2 which is open to non-players as well. Access keys will be obtainable from www.guildwars.com as of Friday if I'm not mistaken.

So there is no point in getting Guild Wars then as the second is a standalone? Does this update the graphics and everything or will this add to the original?

I only just ordered the game as someone states that its a add on. Hope i havent wasted my money.

Of course you haven't wasted your money, the first game is brilliant and you will learn the ways of GW so that when the second one comes out in March you will already be clued up.

I presume we are allowed to use our current characters in chapter 2? Will the level cap be increased?

as far as what the "Great Frog" said last time i was there they have no plan to increase the level cap.
they did give hints to a few things like more character slots and general things like that. BUT as far as i know they will only include 2 extra character slots when you buy chapter 2. which means you will still miss out on playing 2 of the classes. i have already seen some places which have it for pre order. they said release date was around march some time

I really should start playing this again!

I got it a fair while ago now and played it for about a week solid but i also really got into EVE so GW took a back seat!

All those who claimed it got boring after the PvE campaign, really didn't try the PvP :D

As soon as you start Guild vs Guild battling etc the game just gets better and better IMO :)

The game only really starts once you reach the level cap and start doing GvG properly.

You can either unlock skills and gear by doing lots of PvP or by farming in PvE or a mixture of the two.

The rather laborious process of repeatedly going over the same old ground, playing for cash drops and good items to increase funds etc :)

we are all guilty of it from time to time :D
