Guilt free Sausages?

Humans are not herbivores.
Is there definitive science on this now? I thought the jury was still out?

No sharp front teeth, long digestive tract, strong stomach acid. But we do have canines, and seem to crave the taste.

So, it would seem we've historically been opportunistic feeders.

I was correcting someone's inference that it would save piggies lives and that they would all have some rural piggy idyll rooting in the woods and fields for the remainder of a natural lifetime.
I agree with you, they would not exist if there was no demand and the only reason to exist is that there is a demand. Even people who believe that pigs are unclean like the smell and taste of bacon.
I am the grandson of farmers on my mothers side and on the other side of the family my paternal grandparents were vegetarian throughout the 20th century. I see and have heard both arguments in my lifetime.
As a meat eater I have reached a personal conclusion that humans are meat eaters or at least are omniverous, I temper eating meat with eating plenty of other food types and I try to source meat from the more ethical suppliers. Eating meat is a personal decision and I do not preach for or against it but I realise that many will.

I'll be honest, I love meat but hate animal cruelty. Like most (although they would never admit it) I don't think about it. When I'm tucking into a fryup, or a burger I'm not thinking about the animal.

That said, I'd be happy if everyone switched to meat alternatives. I also think that it would be better for a pig not to exist at all, rather than to have a life just for feeding us humans. It aint much of a life is it.

It's like those millions of chicks bread for food, that's no life.

This is a good video covering some of those points.

Now I've had a chance to watch it, I don't really think it covers a lot, and I've not seen the original which he's trying desperately to counter - the biggest problem he has is that he starts on the premise that you can't compare stats between weights because it skews them, then when he's arguing about water use, he uses the comparison of weight because it works better with his argument...
Guess people will see what they want to see but I've yet to see a well balanced discussion on the issues which deal with the non emotional issues surrounding it

Vegan cheese, really? Why try and imitate animal products all the time when they will always be inferior?

not in to the meat flavors but have had no chicken burgers (the clues in the name ,lack of death makes it superior imho) and as stated i miss crumbly cheese but refuse to support the dairy industry .

aggressive attitudes to vegans is predominantly from poorly educated people who suffer from the inner conflicts of cognitive dissonance Vegans can contribute to those who eat meat being aware of this cognitive dissonance, which in turn will lead to discomfort in meat eaters and eventually interactions between vegans and meat eaters can become strained. Therefore, one way to resolve this inner conflict and reduce dissonance is to maintain prejudice against vegans ,Discrediting ethical vegans as do-gooders is then a way to invalidate the judgement of oneself.

My aggressive attitude to vegans is when they think they are superior and think everyone should follow their diet. You want to be vegan fine, I want to eat a bit of meat now and again don't look down on me for that choice.

Also what's wrong with the dairy industry the dairy farm near my home is somewhere we take the children a lot and the animals are well looked after and are happy.

how about a constant

Awesome, not at all my experience actually visiting farms. Nearest one to me the cows milk themselves as well. Regularly go there to get the icecream and milk.
Stop being on a mission to convert everyone and let people choose for themselves I say.

I'm not vegan as said. But I fully admit vegans are better people when it comes to animal empathy.

I don't get how people who say 'why do vegans eat fake meat' think that. Isn't it obvious that you can like something, but not have it due to empathy?

Vegans typically will take an example of the absolute worst thing they can find and then assume everybody involved in the industry is like that.
