(can't see a thread for this) Anyone in the closed beta for this? You're allowed to discuss it, stream it and post screenshots so no NDA for this one. Had a play this morning and it's good fun. I don't know if it's going to be free to play (it has card packs for sale) but I can see myself dabbling with this if it is.

I signed up for the beta but sadly no key for me so far. Look forward to hearing more about it. Loved Gwent when playing Witcher 3.

That's cool. I really don't have time to play Witcher at the moment but would like to play this from time to time. Gonna see if I can still sign up for beta.

Sign up doesn't work :(

Well it's pretty much what you know and love from The Witcher but with some Hearthstone-y stuff added (in the form of deck building, scrapping and constructing cards, getting packs etc) I'm not sure how much longevity there will be in terms of deck variation etc I guess that will come with time but it's fun for a few games here and there.

Got my beta key today, played a fair few games and really enjoyed it.

Yeah its mostly the same as in The Witcher (which is obviously no bad thing) though I'd say slightly more complicated, a larger variety of cards and abilities. As I don't really play games like this I was pretty rubbish, but I was getting better.

I can imagine it being one of those games I play for a while every so often, will certainly be playing more.

It occurred to me that I'd love a physical copy of this game, then it occurred to me how would you track the strength value of cards, then it occurred to me how on earth do they track them in the witcher universe?

Thoughts with Shami.

Magic?

From what I'm hearing, Gwent is painfully pay-to-win. I know several streamers who have taken a look and dropped it the first chance they get (which is not always straight away, as some of them are sponsored to play).

I thought that initially but tbh you get enough materials to create a few golds quite quickly (I already have 4 golds and 6 silvers) Can't say I've had any games where I've got trashed by a deck that looks bought.

I think there are a couple of unbalanced cards (Northern has the Reinforced Trebuchet that is just ridiculous at the moment) to be expected with a beta though.

I started playing TW3 last month and beyond that first introductory Gwent game have not managed to bring myself to play another - is it worth sticking with it, and does it impact on the game itself in any way (no spoilers pls)?

I don't think it really has any impact, but there are a few gwent specific quests you would miss out on, or would fail at if you hadn't collected cards and learnt to play.

I didn't really enjoy that first introductory game but gave it a few more tries and ended up loving it.

The gwent quests are fairly long and would be a huge shame to miss out on, some great moments in them if you fancy a break from monster hunting! I don't think I got into gwent until around half way through my first playthrough but once you start to understand it and get into it it's great fun.

Seems it's only for PC/console.

Something like this seems like it would be ideal for mobiles/tablet devices.

Yeah that was my exact thought when they initially announced it, I'd love a mobile version.

I bought some of the physical cards, but I can't imagine I'd ever try to play a game with them.

Oh I'm such an idiot, only just realised you could buy kegs using ore. I'd only visited the shop initially to open my free kegs and hadn't noticed the option to buy with ore at the time.
