H1Z1 - Zombie apocalypse sandbox from SOE

What anti-cheat will this use? I've not played Planetside 2, I assume it used PunkBuster?

No, it's all in house. I wouldn't worry though, cheats don't really exist for Planetside 2.

H1Z1 is running the same game engine and same anti cheat system as Planetside 2 so the anti cheat system already in place has been tried, tested and perfected already in Planetside 2 and should hit the ground running on day 1 with H1Z1

im just lurking, checking what you lot are saying about this, cos it could be interesting but with 101 zombie survivals im not paying $20 for access to a f2p game... but im still intrigued.

Part of me thinks i wont find the game im looking for, even with all the games coming out. Its all emphasising PvP IMO, rather than survival. Where PvE is an option, theres no lasting depth. I'd absolutely love something which played like The Walking Dead, more MMO with storys/missions/quests and whatnot. Sandbox is nice, but without something driving gameplay (which is where PvP benefits) theres little reason to return. I've only played The Secret World as MMOs go, and while i wouldnt say strip it down and throw in zombies, i like that interaction side of things. Building a camp, fortifying it, dealing with passing hordes, surviving, helping others and dealing with rival/bandit groups in the area etc. TWD basically! Im not into DayZ & Breaking Point simply because it seems like zombies are utterly irrelevant (ignoring theyre heavily focused on PvP too). An element of PvP would be fine, with the right mindset/justification, but im more interested in surviving a zombie apoc, not hunting players during one.
Something tells me we wont get a decent game like this, unfortunately, just more identical games of varying success.

Also, something which was said about 10-15 posts back, which didnt seem right:
"If enough players use their tokens to vote for a server which allows flying pigs for example and this server is a success then all players who used their token to buy into that server will have their token returned, so basically if you get enough friends who want a non pvp server you can use a token to vote for it."
Is that correct, cos it seems backwards and unproductive.

Surely a successful vote keeps your token, and failed votes return them, otherwise its a kick in the left nut cos you've lost your time-served/bought token(s) and a kick in the right nad cos you dont get the server you wanted either.
Thats the only fair way to do it IMO. That, or take all tokens, but certainly not rewarding those who got what they wanted, twice, while compounding the fact that others didnt succeed. Its voting, not betting. Winning gets you what you wanted, it shouldnt be about correctly guessing the winner else you lose a token.

Basically the token system is all about player servers, all player servers will be hosted by SOE what you are voting for is custom rule sets for player servers, yes it is a bit of a gamble but successful servers = a win and therefore you get your original stake back.

Hello fellow Infected,
I'd like to announce a new feature for H1Z1. Player Servers. Similar to other games from SOE, H1Z1 is an MMO. We will launch with different rulesets and variants to cater to different playstyles.
We're excited about taking our dedication to letting you get a say in our games to a whole new level with Player Servers.
The idea is simple - If a community of our players wants to host a server with a specific theme or ruleset then we're going to do our best to give it to them. players will recieve a pledge token for free if they've played more than 5 hours. This pledge token can be used to cast a vote for a server. But use it wisely. You only get one free one per year. Make sure it's a community you believe in and that has a good chance to succeed because we're going to set the bar such that the community can sustain an MMO server (more details will be announced later). If you find yourself dying to vote on another server initiative we'll also sell pledge tokens but you can only use 2 pledge tokens a year max. So again, it's up to you but we want to make sure if we build it you're coming. We're also going to refund the station cash you used to buy it to your account if the Player Server Initiative succeeds. The Pledge token also comes with a wearable that's going to look sweet.
Why refund it if it succeeds? Simple - we really want to give you the kind of servers you want. We're going to set that bar high. If it succeeds, you've built a community of fellow players you want and as our customers we want to give you that. But we also need some indication of reality in order to make this work.
At SOE we've been doing a whole lot of asking our players what you think of our ideas. This is no exception. If you have better ones, we are all ears.
Hope you dig this.

I am one of the admin at the H1Z1 wiki at gamepedia.
I originally started editing the wiki as part of a competition to win a key way back in June last year and they asked me if I would like to admin it, they got issued the keys yesterday and sent me mines over :).
I managed to activate it on steam but it wont let me install it till release :(.

Got a long weekend off work (unless I can find some overtime, bit not looking hopeful) and nothing to do, can't wait, should be interesting.

Although my gfx is half the "minimum" I hope it plays on minimum settings.

Well SOE have stated that if your computer can run Planetside 2 it wont have any problems with H1Z1, this could have course be a clever marketing ploy to get us all to play Planetside 2 whilst we wait for the release of H1Z1 :D
