Halal food acceptable in Britain?

On the scale of things that is nothing to a death of animals in the natural world. Stop moaning about halal slaughter and complain about chinese slaughter methods. Throwing cats and dogs live into boiling water, skinning them whilst alive.

A quick slice to the neck is what I'd do to animal if I were to kill it myself, that or break it's neck (only works for small animals)

So you're no longer claiming it's painless?

And Chinese slaughter methods aren't carried out in this country....

tbh i dont get why they cant bolt into an animals head and then cut the throat, its not like smashing somethings brain to bits is going to make the meat below the neck 'dirty'?

As a concept the Dhabihah method is a more enlightened way to slaughter within the halal guidelines of acceptable meats as can be read below:

Several other conditions are also stated: the knife's blade should be extremely sharp yet not be sharpened in front of the animal, the animal must not be slaughtered in front of other animals[2], and the animal's eyes and ears must be checked to ensure its health and suitability for slaughter. If it is deemed to be healthy, it is given water to drink (to quench its thirst). The animal should then be stood to face the Qibla[3], and the actual slaughter can begin.

The problem is, as with all religious practices, times move on - technology allows us to remove the animals physical suffering completely which is where Dhabihah fails.

You see that, I have a problem with. It's clearly alive more than a minut after they stick a blade in its throat.

I fail to see the point of this thread. Seems like more muslim bashing to me.

Whats next? Lets ban circumcision in the uk aswell. Just because its not "British" doesnt mean it should be banned.

"Halal food" is a business and a business that does well! Its no different from McDonalds.

Its a sad state of affairs when it comes down to silly points like this. If you started banning all the things that are not British you would end up with not a lot.

Hell, my brothers wife isnt British. Should i ban her from the sunday lunch???

halal isnt a business, its a practice.
Circumcision is a choice for a human, halal is something thrust upon livestock.

Its very different front mcdonalds, for starters halal doesnt employ anyone or make a profit, and mcdonalds doesnt slit any livestock's throats.

Its a sad state of affairs when people seem to think others want halal banned because its not british =/

We don't want it banned because it's not British you fool, we want it banned because it's animal cruelty. Plain and simple.

And yes banning circumcision for anything other than medical purposes is a good idea.

I don't think we can really comment to much on the cruelty of halal when you look at how animals are treated in this country in general. The worst thaat springs to my mind are the videos of the battery chickens that are kept in the tiny cages then go though all those machines chopping the beaks off whilst they're still alive and all the other lovely stuff that goes with it.

maybe we should plug them into a matrix like device so they think they are running around happily in fields....but what if they spawn a neo ?

Female circumsicion has been banned, and no respectable doctor would perform circumcision without valid medical reason. Mutilation is wrong ok?
