Halal only outlets

Hey, im as right wing as the next guy, but how is it discrimination? They arent saying its a muslim only restaraunt, most of you have probably eaten halal and wouldnt know the difference - its just a different method of slaughter, and unlike kosher, doesnt leave the food tasting like sawdust.

Indeed, I don't see how it is discrimination.

Are vegetarian restaurants discrimination against people who eat meat?

Most vegetarians are quite happy to eat vegetarian meals from restaurants that also sell non-vegetarian meals. Halal requires that no pork be prepared at all, meaning you can't sell a halal meal where you sell for example bacon, this is when it becomes discrimination. In 20-30 years all restaurants in the UK will be halal, a major supermarket will be next to go halal and bacon will no longer be available - it's a genius way of Islamifying a country.

Smells disgusting in my opinion and nearly makes me vomit when I open a pack(work in McDs)
And you're blaming this on pigs? I'm not sure McDs bacon even comes from pigs!

If people don't want to eat pork than that's fine, all the more for me ;) Roasted Pork Belly and Black Pudding is like nothing else on earth. And then there's beer-cured bacon, completely unlike anything you'll get in a supermarket. And ribs. Yum.

On topic, the restaurant should just label their menu's with 'non-halal alternative available' and then just serve the same food. Nobody would notice.

Oh please. You sound like a right-wing nutjob.

I expect alcohol will be banned and all our women will have to wear a burka too

There is an Asda and Morrison in Birmingham that sell Halal meat, but they also sell pork in the same store. What's your beef?

You accuse me of being a right-wing nut job and then you clearly demonstrate that you do not understand the issues at stake - halal food cannot be prepared on the same premises as pork, so talk of a non-halal alternative and there being more pork for you is totally moot.

I believe that if it's prepared on the same premises as pork then it's not really halal. Please correct me if I'm wrong here, I'm assuming you're a Muslim so I'm not saying anything you don't know already?

I think that if it's not prepared in the same area then it's fine. Asda have separate counters for both Halal and Non-Halal.

Reading all this halal rubbish about where and how it has to be is prepared etc reinforces my belief that some religions are populated by weirdos .
Its 2010 for gawds sake, do you still believe in the tooth fairy :D

Show me proof of any existence and I will then agree to your beliefs, until then, I find you lot annoying but entertainingly funny at the same time. :D

Not really, but their beliefs are in my face all the time it seems nowadays and this country is bending over backwards scared of upsetting them.

p.s. Cool sig pic

Which most butchers can't afford to do, so they have a choice of either a) being non-halal and having no Muslim customers or b) going halal and not selling pork. Given the rapidly rising Muslim population of this country I imagine that a) is becoming the logical business decision more and more often. Like I said, it's very clever - I confess that I rather admire whoever came up with these rules.

I agree entirely, just making sure there was some bulk to the argument there :) I am not against other religions moving into and occupying our society, all I ask is that they show us the same respect that we undoubtedly 'bed over backwards' to bare them.

If a butcher does prepare all the meat in the same area behind closed doors, and sells it a halal on the counter, what implications would he get if caught ?

Trade descriptions act? Didn't someone recently go to prison for selling eggs labelled as free-range when they were anything but?

Looks like you're gonna have to go veggie now, unless you're a hypocrite that is...

Except of course you are ignoring the fact that some of the halal meat is not slaughted according to the normal rules and the animal is not stunned first. Because you have no way of knowing which halal has been humanely slaughted and which hasn't, if you care about that sort of thing then you would have to avoid halal entirely. Why would that make you a hypocrite?

I believe that one was fraud on a massive scale by Mr Owen as detailed here but in essence you're right it would be a case of false advertising so the Trade Descriptions Act and possibly the Advertising Standards Agency would have something to say although there may be others.
