Half-Life 2: Episode 1

just one word explains this game... omgwtfbbq

i had so much fun playing it, took me nigh on three hours on friday on hard difficulty

so worth it though, although dropping the price of it can only make it sweeter

one problem is that i dont feel ashamed that i have beaten it three times already

bring on episode 2 i think

Tried reinstallling Steam to your otehr drive?

DaveyD will be able to help ;)
Thx - I think u've solved it.

I completed half-life 2 recently. I found the entrance to the mansion tricky since I didnt know where to go; also the bit right after u get stripped of all weapons except souped up gravity gun, where u have to get over a low fence when jump no longer works.

I replay certain areas I find tricky till I am satisfied I have come through in good enough shape without wasting too much ammo, that probably makes me take longer to complete a game.

The ending for half-life 2 was weird. Who is the guy at the end, his face is familiar? I have half-life 1 in my steam games, but never bothered to complete it before.

There's some nice touches in there, like when Alex shields her eyes from your flashlight. Two bits that made me laugh were when I turned off the flashlight in the dark to recharge and I hear a zombie going 'muuuur, nnnnngg', switched it back on quickly and Alex goes 'Only kidding!', and when the NPCs are all sitting watching the telly and I smashed it, she goes 'You're right, we shouldn't be watching TV'. :D

Never noticed any of that, i'll be playing through again with comentary on to see whats said.

Did everyone wait till the credits ended? I didnt lol until someone mentioned it to me at work

Did i miss something? i went to the toilet whilst it was running :p

I'm stuck on the part were the room is full of water I guess you put the blue barrel under the metal walk way so it doesn’t go into the water? But then how do I get to the other side?

EDIT:- Done now :) thanks

I just did that part last night. If you look around the room, you should be able to see another route across to the door... Took me a few attempts to spot where I was going wrong:)

My favourite line from this whole game was probably when you have just destroyed the gunship in that building.

"Oh my god! Gordon! You are such a terror!" :D

After hearing the commentary you realise just how much thought they have to put into every tiny little detail. Must be a lot of work.

Just finished Half-Life 2 Episode One I thought it was very good, bit short but I never expected it to be as long as Half Life 2.

I see what people mean now about the ending it’s a bit sudden I was expecting to go to another part of the game (back to raven Holm).

The part 2 looks really good cant wait for that

I'm halfway through it, had it since...erm, yesterday. I'm probably closer to the end than the middle, but what the hell, I'm trying to spread it out a bit. Besides, I've put a good few hours into it already, since I keep getting stuck, then when I figure it out, I reload and do it again (since by the time I figure it out, I usually have no bullets left...). The fact that my PC stutters pretty badly (occasionally) probably helps bump up the time too. :p

I do the same, re-run areas to get uit perfect ;)

Isn't that guy the one from the start of HL2 where he's on about 'The right man in the wrong place'?

I've never played the original HL so i'm probably missing something,

£20 for that?

bought it yesterday i was expecting a lot more my money i know its in episode's but its just soooo short

still a little bit of fun tho
Where does it cost £20?! Was just over a tenner on steam.

I'm not sure this is answered, but How much does it relate to in £ if you buy over steam? As there is an unknown qunatity of tax to go ontop isnt there?

Or should I just buy it in the shops?

I worked it out to be £11.26 including tax but that was with the 10% pre-order discount. So it might be around £12.50 now.

Hmm how odd. Ages ago I bought the HL2 silver pack and valve back catalogue. The other week I pre-loaded HL2: episode 1.
I just booted up steam, and it said "validating Half-life 2: epidode 1 files".
In my games section, HL2:ep1 isnt showing up at all. Presumably, I still need to purchase it?

Its silly because buying over steam, it comes with most of the games I have already :( I feel like I'll be paying for them twice over :(
