Half-Life 2: Episode 1

I got the silver pack too - back in 2004 when HL2 came out. But this is a standalone purchase - you have the option of buying it for a cheap price on its own. You don't have to buy HL2 again? :confused:

well, it includes HL2 deathmatch again

I had quite a few problems with Ep1....no problems with games prior to this. Towards the end of the game I got so fed up that I tried a suggestion on the Steam forums to turn off the HDR lighting within the Video options and I had no problems after that. Not such a nice picture but at least you can play it without having to restart the computer regularly.

I've got Athlon 64 3500+, 1 gig RAM, nForce 4 mobo, XiFi soundcard, X1900XT graphics card. All drivers were up to date.

Actually it includes HL: Deathmatch source. It's the original Half Life deathmatch ported to the source engine.

OK, I'm probly gonna get flamed, but what the hey.

I loved HL1 and all the add-ons, and I loved HL2 (mostly).
Ep1 however, just bored me. I just thought it was too repetative, and quite frankly, I just wanted to get to the end and done with it.

Very disappointing imo, and doubt I'll bother with Ep2.

Personally I am in it for the storyline at the moment. If it came out in book form I would be down the shops to buy it straight away!

Just finished it myself.. Gave me a good weeks enjoyment. I'll probably go and play it again with the commentary.

I thought the story line was quite good, was well thought out. Quite liked the ending too with the trailer after.. Left me wanting more. Just a shame theres a 6 month wait for Ep2 now

Bought it via steam and completed it in one go.

Its outstanding and amongst the best expansion for a FPS game I have ever experianced! Really cool seeing the charactor development (ie. Alyx) and getting to be a part of what happens next; also loved the innovative game play and fun puzzles.

In future, I wish to be known as Zombine Harvester.

i beleive that the half life2 episodes are beign what the 'aftermath' expansion was going to be, as hte original name for ep1 was in fact aftermath, but i think they said half life 3 will be a proper game, not episodic

I think this shows what a great game HL2 is - it's the story and "people" that make it what it is.

I can only hope more games become as good as this. HL2 sucked me in completely. I've never been so 'in' a game before (except HL1!).

I read that it should have been called Half-life 3: Episode 1, etc. But it was too late to change the name.
