Half Life 2 RTX

You obviously never had a 9700 or 4870 then. Excellent GPU's that offered great value for money.

Couldn't tell you, I never looked at the GPU as value for money even when I was 18 and was paid peanuts.
Actually one I remember, 290 Tri-X. Had an orange surround.

You got mugged. I got a 9700 for £170 as I recall, flashed the bios and made it a 9700 Pro which cost closer to £300

Did you get one of those all in wonder cards? :D

No but I remember those

I also remember in that era of buying a X800GTO 12 pipe version that you could flash to a 16 pipe X800XT! Ocuk were advertising they had the one brand on site that the flash worked for :)

HL2 was my first Steam purchase too.

I remember activation being total nightmare on release day - I ended up leaving the PC on all evening and it eventually activated just as I was going to bed!:D

wasn't HL2 the 1st steam game?.
I know I was really angry at the time about having to download an extra app on my pc.
I fought against the tide for a number of years only ever buying retail games on cd..... however in the end I realised it was as pointless as king **** (edit... no way the "correct" spelling of Canute is filtered...... ) demanding the sea to turn the tide.
