The funny part is that Valve had direct input into this this being made and provided their insight into "original vision" and such, had those people actually watched some early interviews or used their eyes to read.
Exactly! As you and I both know by now, some people are stuck in the past or/and just don't want to accept that the days of raster are over as evidenced by the countless games coming out now and the new phase of where there is no option to turn it off so them lot will now resort back to that argument of the "zOMG artist intent" thinking that they are going to change the course of technical advancement. It's funny though as I am starting to see more and more people updating to RT capable gpus i.e. nvidia or the newly launched 9070 and literally stating "doesn't look like RT is going anywhere and is only becoming more prevalent", I mean the writing has been on the walls for a while now..... You really couldn't make it up when it comes to this, it's the exact same as the people who go "all you need is lighting artists to get good visuals and art style" ehhhhh no, as lighting artists have said themselves, ray tracing is just another tool in their arsenal now that gives them far more options.
I mean, I can see peoples points on HL 2 RTX remix but that's not really because of "ray tracing"... I'm sure in scenes where there is little to no light, it will be plenty dark and gloomy, which is shown in the above video quite a few times which is why your guy has to turn on his flashlight throughout the game:
Of course then you will get the same people saying, it's too dark in such scenes

As mentioned before, with bright spotlights and blazing fires, you would expect the environment to be pretty bright.... It reminds me of the last of us opening with Joel running through the small town and you got explosions/fires:
Sorry but that is too bright...

Funny thing is though, that's not even bright enough given the scale of the fire....
I'm hoping now that there is a demo, we will soon get a release date for this as it has been in the works for ages, makes you wonder if valve are using this as a way to drag out HL 3.....
It does look kinda bright though, every light seems too harsh, almost like spot lights
Well they do look to be spot/flood lights throughout the level
