*** Half-Life: Alyx ***

1st April now, must be getting a few orders for this because of this game. Thinking about it but if i was getting queasy watching the video above i'd probably be blasting a hole through my screen via projectile vomit in actual vr.

Seems a bit odd that 90fps is recommended for vr and this is 10fps below that, think even the previous version had a 90hz rate?

90 FPS was recommended when the Rift had a 90Hz refresh rate. What makes you sick in VR is when your frame rate drops below the refresh rate, that's why Oculus decided to reduce the refresh rate by 10hz to make it easier for lesser systems to keep up in VR.

And don't judge it by the video. The game can be as hard or as easy on the stomach as you would like it to be. There are options that make it more comfortable. Plus, it doesn't take long to build up your VR legs.

Gonna have a think about it and see, wish this could be redone in vr, hands down one of the best clips ever. Really makes the headcrab into a character. :D

Nope not so far, considering it but i get the feeling i would get nausea with it. Oculus are sold out again of the rift s so more time to think about it.

You probably will at first, but you become immune to it after a couple of weeks of short sessions. It made me really sick at first but now I can play for hours and feel fine.

Teleporting is used in FPSs to avoid "VR sickness", but it takes away immersion.

Many people don't have issues with VR and the default movement setup for HL:A is as easy and mild as it can be, perfectly usable and doesn't cause any motion sickness problems. Providing your frame rate remains high. Which should be more than possible even with the minimum GPU setup (on low settings).

On my 5700XT it runs flawlessly on my Vive with graphics set to High Fidelity. Frame rate never dips below 90fps. I started playing it yesterday evening around 4pm, I stopped playing around 7:30pm, not because I was feeling iffy, but because I was hungry :)

I notice the minimum GPU system requirements are a Geforce 1060.

Would this run at all on a Geforce 980 with 4gb VRAM or does it require at least 6gb ?

6GB VRAM is the minimum requirement, probably would still run on 4GB but your chancing it and likely be stuck with minimum graphics options.

It's certainly a big game though, I'm 4 hours in and if it really is 15 hours+ long I'm barely under a 1/3 of the way through yet!

Just found an Argos that has the rift s in stock, only it’s a 170 miles away in Bristol haha

Let me guess, no delivery options available? Thats what im getting for some reason. Seems like some stores have it but if its in a store and not a warehouse there's no way to have it delivered.
