doesnt look like someone whos about to retire to me.

looks like someone as interested in f1 and as dedicated as ever (photos are from testing today btw)

he has no reason to be at testing though so going there tells us something.

and its not that hes bored so decided to fly his private jet to the young drivers test....

if he was bored he would probably go visit his island

As he is a current Mercedes race driver, shouldn't he be at the factory or in the simulator helping develop the car?

If anything, drivers with loads of free time are usually those who are being eased out of the team before being let go. If I was you, the fact he's got plenty of free time would be a concern, not a relief.

As he is at the track while they develop a new exhaust system and new DRS system suggests to me he is being very involved, and if he was being eased out why would they have him in the factory developing the car as you say?

Jenson and Lewis had some free time for the Mugello test right, were they being eased out while they could have been in the car developing or at the factory?

I don't.

But I got attacked for suggesting a Ferrari Young Driver contract wouldn't be able to keep Perez at Sauber if McLaren wanted him. Interesting how breaking a race seat contract with Force India seems to be fine though...

I didnt suggest that though (and it all depends on ferrari and how much $$$ they would accept from McLaren imo)

It does raise the question whether he (and other drivers) have two levels of contract - one to their current team, and a broader one to Ferrari (or McLaren / Merc etc) , or whether his current deal is actually with Ferrari but within it states including a loan to Sauber or something like this (maybe this legally isnt possible , just a hypothesis)

also dont FI get some of their gearboxes and other mechanics from McLaren?

So he never got out of this bullet proof contract then?

Oh wait....

He didn't. There was no legal way out of the contract as it was bullet proof. He breached the contract. Hence the $30m or whatever it was payout.

If he'd gotten out of the contract he (I think Honda paid it in the end) wouldn't have had to pay anything.

You seem to lack any understanding of contract, I'll assume through ignorance rather than intelligence.

A bullet proof contract would not be "bought" out. So really save your high horse remarks. He did not honour the contract so he got out of it, no matter how you try to paint it.

I think I'd like to see him go, purely to shake things up. I don't really have any personal interest in mc, merc or ham. Would be interesting to see who he is replaced with

You got attacked? slight over reaction as usual, some people did not agree with your Perez analysis nothing more. No idea why you take anyone debating your opinion as an attack.

And let's rewind, you said McLaren could take him if they want, not that they could deal with Ferrari to release his contract, as would anyone have to do with Force India if they wanted Di Resta.

I'd have thought it was obvious that suggesting McLaren could sign Perez would have implied some agreement with Ferrari? I didn't think such a simple comment would need so much explaining. Everyone else seemed to get it?

And you werent discussing, you were arguing for the sake of arguing, something other people have pointed out too.

No they never seemed to get it, as the only people who replied to you disagreed with you. McLaren could sign Perez just like they could sign Alonso. You said the only way Ferrari could keep him (if McLaren wanted him) was to offer him a seat in the Ferrari. That does not imply any agreement with Ferrari to me.

And again if you do not wish to debate any points with me then don't respond, but if you do then don't accuse me of arguing for the sake of it, its very childish and seems like you are again taking things way too personally. I am entitled to have my opinion just as much as you are.
