Hamilton to Mercedes? BBC

ep.20 (GMM) Eddie Jordan has had a starring role in the 2013 'silly season', recently predicting with confidence that a retiring Michael Schumacher is set to be replaced by Lewis Hamilton. But where did that Mercedes scoop come from?

"Bernie (Ecclestone) told me," German reports on Thursday quote the former F1 team boss and now TV pundit as saying. Along with the Hamilton saga and the uncertain future of Ferrari's Felipe Massa, whether Schumacher stays or goes is regarded as a key to the entire 2013 driver market. So what if there is no room for the seven time world champion at Mercedes?

"I would take him immediately," Peter Sauber, whose Mercedes-backed sports car team provided the springboard for Schumacher's formula one career more than two decades ago, smiled to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport..
hamilton to merc
perez to mclaren
schumacher to sauber

if people are still playing silly season and buying into rumours

im still convinced hamilton isnt going anywhere and schumacher is staying at mercedes.

although imo this season the sauber is a better car than the merc so i wouldnt mind if he went there next season.

so far mercedes didnt really prove they can build or develop a car whilst sauber obviously can

Schumacher to Sauber, lol.

Based on a "yeah I'd take him" comment. Lol. I expect if you asked any team boss from Sauber down on the grid if they would take Schumacher they would say "yep", doesn't mean he's going to be in a HRT next year though does it.

The key word in that quote is 'smiled'.

lol i said if you buy into the rumours people like to stir :P
schumacher has a strong connection with mr sauber so it wouldnt be about the money

hes only ever had positive things to say about schumacher even during 2010 and 2011 and he never felt betrayed that schumacher went to benneton

kobayashi has apparently been replaced by alguesari btw

Yeah I know, that wasn't a dig aimed at you, it was about the general reaction those sort of comments get.

You could ask Mike Gascoyne if Caterham would take Schumacher if they had the chance, and he would probably say "yeah why not". Then the next thing you see is F1 websites with headlines like "Schumacher considering move to Caterham", and forum threads of people frantically trying to justify or destroy his decision to make such a move :D.

All though to be fair, F1 Silly Season has been particularly boring this year, so people are just crying out for crazy stories to grab hold off :D

Why would Peter Sauber feel betrayed that MS left Eddie Jordan's team to go to Benetton?

At the start of the 1992 season the Sauber team, planning their Formula One debut with Mercedes backing for the following year, invoked a clause in Schumacher's contract which stated that if Mercedes entered Formula One, Schumacher would drive for them. It was eventually agreed that Schumacher would stay with Benetton, Peter Sauber said that "[Schumacher] didn't want to drive for us. Why would I have forced him?"

i think it was actually saubers money that got him the jordan drive and not mercedes aswell
peter sauber once said
“Success has many fathers, failure is an orphan. But naturally I am regularly asked about the race in Spa, exactly how Michael's first race for Jordan came to pass. Michael himself did not know the circumstances until his retirement,”

I think its plausible that schumacher could finish his f1 career with a farewell season at sauber but im still convinced he will be at merc next year unless he has no faith in the team.

No thanks, no point replacing one average driver with another Plus MS would not understand it's not his team any more.
yea they might aswell keep alonso until vettel is free as you say no point replacing average with average.

mr i cant even get past petrov , i give up

he could have atleast stuck one down the inside, its not the first time alonso has said hes given up though

He never said anything about giving up in Abu Dhabi, but again keep making up some fiction it really does suit you. He was never close enough to stick one down the inside, he never learned from MS about how to deal with another car while in a title battle ;) I would rather he raced fair than ram someone off in desperation.

I doubt they would replace him with someone that isn't racing in F1 at the moment and if they did it would be a backed GP2 driver.

I dunno, Alguersuari was pretty promising and since Pérez is outclassing Kobayashi, I could see it happening. But maybe that's just because I want him back in F1... :o

His tweets today also seem to suggest that he has landed a seat for next season.

LOL and not parking at Rascasse might have won MS the championship, these things happen :) Alonso not spinning out at Spa might have won him the championship, but in reality he was relying on Red Bull having problems to give him any chance. I never said Alonso is a saint, but he is not a dirty driver.

So the likes of Ascari, G Hill, J Clark, M Hakkinen and J Brabham were not nice guys cause they won more than one title? really you do post some strange stuff at times.

someones jelly i didnt back them up about people wanting alonso to have a poor finish so the championship can tighten up

never saw you be negative about msc until then.

sorry but i dont post here to back up people who have agreed with me in the past just for the sake of it.

i post what i believe

well cheating once or twice certainly helped MS to win one or two early championships - not that f1 cared that much lol

Oh so your whole day of trying to slate Alonso as average is because I said something slightly bad about MS? I certainly do not need any back up from you at all, you were wrong that nobody wanted to DNF and have taken the huff over it.

So you believe Alonso brought shame to Ferrari at Abu Dhabi, you also believe Alonso is average and replacing him with Vettel would be average as well.

You then say nice guys win a championship, that include Jenson who you previously declared as slimey?

so you didnt get home from work read
one person mentioned DNF and 3 others just hope for a poor points finish

what we really hope for is perz at ferrari but i guess alonso is to scared

then decide to bait me in the other thread with
No thanks, no point replacing one average driver with another :) Plus MS would not understand it's not his team any more.

which is pretty much a complete u-turn on everything else you have posted about schumacher in the recent past

what says alonso is so special? the only time he had a competent team mate he tied on points , went all cry baby and ran to the FIA and that was against someone in their rookie season....

since then hes had no name team mates or flavio getting people to crash into walls to make him look good...

theres no way vettel , perez or anyone else will get a second seat at ferrari while satander are paying the bills

You firstly said nobody wanted him to DNF, I replied that they did, you then replied with what you quote above with a little bait about Alonso being scared of Perez :)

because he is and you know it :P

brain damaged massa doesnt stand a chance and alonso knows it.

alonso always bigging up the drivers who have beat him in the past or came close because it makes him seem better etc

he is all show and false hype from "journalists"

if alonso is so great why doesnt he do what schumacher did in 2006 to improve his wdc odds instead of beeing a selfish ******* ?
Todt and Brawn decided to strategically qualify Massa in front of MS so that he could be in a better position to take away points from Alonso in order for MS to win the Championship. MS was to pass Massa via pitstops anyway.

This was confirmed by Todt himself back in 2006!

And don't forget that MS was helping Massa with his driving and set up etc. and allowed him to get close, and not treating him as an avarage teammate-battle.
