Hamilton to Mercedes? BBC

Mclaren haven't had the car to win the championship in 9 out of 10 seasons, they barely ever win it, this might be the one season in the past 5 years they could win it but the team has thrown it away... again.

Little chance in just two seasons both. Where one team absolutely dominated.

True, but if he wanted to stay he could have worked on his relationship with the team. Instead he's just jumped ship for the guys waving the big cheque. Seems like the easy way out really.

But mclaren was his motor sport family since he was a child and he now feels like the ginger step child, with a racers ego I could never see him trying to win favour again like some whiney child.

It may do him good to go to a team where it's just a simple driver/team relationship, no history, just give me a good car to race and get all 4 wheels on at the stops.

Surely if Hamilton destroys Rosberg, that makes Schumacher look even worse given he failed to beat Rosberg in 3 attempts.

you honestly thing a driver loses non of his speed as he gets older? i hope alonso or hamilton stay around until there mid 40's

schumacher beat senna , rosberg beat schumacher , hamilton will beat rosberg.

hes better than senna !

I think he's a bit of a retard. He's not short of money, so why risk jumping to a lower team?

Especially after Mclaren invested so much into him to get him where he is today. What a spoilt baby.

Congrats to Perez though, will be a great opportunity for him.

I really don't get comments like this.

However much you might not agree with a driver's strategy, how can someone dislike someone they've never met before so as to actively wish misfortune upon them..

Oh so it's fine for people on here to openly hate Alonso in every single race thread? here we go again.. one rule for the hamilton fans, one for those that aren't..

But were not talking about 1992 Schumacher.

Your saying that Rosberg is rubbish and the only reason Schumacher didn't beat him is because of bad luck, and that Hamilton will show just how rubbish Rosberg is by destroying him. Thats talking about Schumacher now.

Nobody is (and nobody could) deny that Schumacher was great. He just isn't any more.

Don't think people should openly hate Alonso as well... I'm not going to start a discussion about who's the better driver, but they're both clearly talented.

Nope could loose his seat to the guy he used to race with... MSc back to Ferrari for a year! Heard it here first :p

Would be interesting... MSc would probably happily take second place to Alonso, and the Ferrari fans would love it... Doubt it'll happen though :p

so why does it look bad on schumacher if hamilton beats rosberg? unless you think schumacher lost non of his speed it doesnt.

a lot of people would like nothing more to belittle schumachers achievements like DH comparing schumacher to lance armstrong...

and FYI i have been negative about mercedes for the last 2 years , if your a hamilton fan you will soon find out why

btw check mercedes facebook comments on there latest article lol

I'm not denying this one little bit, I'm really not. I remember watching a karting programme on Sky Sports when I was about.. 9 or 10 maybe, and there was some kid on there called Lewis Hamilton and I pointed at the TV and said to my dad "he'll be a world champion when he's older". He is undoubtedly fast, but it's the crybaby whinging when he doesn't win and the mollycoddling he's had from McLaren and Ron that makes him think he's untouchable, and when it isn't pole and a lights to flag win the toys come out of the pram. You could see it at the start of the season, eternally jealous that he didn't win in Australia and it's got worse since then unless he's won the race. That's what I don't like, and all the fans that think he's "the next Senna" or such comparisons make me sick.

all british drivers get hyped up like that though el_dazza

look at di resta... hyped to hell hailed as the second coming of jesus christ.

given 10/10 for most races by autosport

Di Resta comes across as a decent bloke though, he's fought hard in lesser classes to get to where he is and is at a middle of the road team scoring very good points for them when coming from DTM people questioned his ability to race in F1.

Wow... not a popular move!

I don't think it's that daft from Hamilton's point of view. The Merc has every chance of being a championship winning car in 2013/14. Anyone writing off their chances is just crystal ball gazing. If there's a whole load of other advantages (more money, more personal freedom, No1 status, getting away from personal issues at McLaren...) then it's quite understandable.

What does it say about MSc if Rosberg beats Lewis next year?
