http://www.pitpass.com/47448-New-F1-engines-to-be-scrapped-says-Ecclestone
I listened to the noise of the engines in Maranello the other day, the new engine and the old engine, and even Luca di Montezemolo (Ferrari Chairman) said it sounded terrible and didn't like it," Christian Sylt quotes the 81-year-old as saying.
Ecclestone is confident that FIA president Jean Todt and Di Montezemolo will agree to at least delaying the engines which have spiralled in cost, despite F1 entering a budget reducing era.
"[Todt] will get rid of it," he said, adding: "I think Luca is also saying we should suspend it for two or three years. I think it is sensible to get rid of it and stick with what we have got. It is much cheaper than the new one. It probably could be 30% of the price."

lolhamilton

Heard this on the news at 12pm today whilst at work, i knew he would move i think it will be good for Lewis as he's been raised and spoilt for too long. I think in 2014 he will be on top with Mercs.

Perez i've not really been focusing on at all, intresting indeed see what 2013 brings

Well bring on 2013

Whats left of 2012 Alonso to win...

If Ron Dennis was still running McLaren Lewis wouldn't be leaving....he changed after Dennis wasn't around any more...but I do think he is making a mistake by leaving

Yeah I agree.

Stupid move for hamilton, seems more about the money than winning the title to me as the McLaren is a good car and better then the merc.

Not Knocking Ross Brawn & Lewis but going against the grain here.

McLaren will only suffer when the engine rules kick in and then they will find a way.

Big Ron can get the best out of lewis imo and all this "I wanna be the No 1 driver chat" Button is probably the best TEAM mate on the grid, I for one would be over the moon the race along side the man even if he beat me every race!

I doubt even Ron Dennis would keep him there now. Back when Hamilton was the rookie he had humility and was starry eyed. But then he changed. You should read this, very interesting.

http://www.pitlanemagazine.com/magazine/?p=213

In other words... he did his job and people find it hard to see a guy they see as a rookie, who is basically lower in the team than an experienced engineer become the senior man, the leader in the team.

In just about any job a guy comes in be it at 17, 30, or 60, you're polite you learn the ropes you keep quiet and you gain confidence, when you become a leader, get promoted above others its hard for them to accept the "new kid" as their now boss. The guy writing the article is also making a huge assumption, that Lewis changes rather than was always the guy he now see's. He's also clearly playing things like using the media... as a negative character trait, when its basically part of their job.

Can anyone here honestly say what Alonso, given the message to not fight Massa for the win and risk taking them both out would be silent on the radio or happy after the race... lol.

he failed to actually say anything that sounded negative about Lewis, he uses the media :o , he's unhappy about being told not to go for a win :o

But he's put standard things drivers are expected to do in a negative light because he's not the same inexperienced rookie new to a team and not sure of his place in formula 1. As for Merlin's interpretation of it, I fail to see where he showed humility as a rookie and fails to do so now. Do we think Alonso still repeatedly asks all the questions of his team he did in his first season in F1? If anything its whoever it is on the team being unable to accept the changing role of Lewis in the team and the fact that at some point he had to become a driver who tells his engineers what he needs rather than asking what they think he needs.

You are revising history there, China he had no answer to Nico, Monza he was not going to win, and he was not leading when he ran into a backmarker.

Jenson spent race after race doing nothing, there lies the problem and the gap between Lewis should be much larger.

seeing as he lost 5 seconds in the pitstop in China (wheelnut problem I think?) and they were not that much different at the end, you have NO idea what might have been possible with Rosberg (going for his first win remember) would have done under more pressure

It was early in the race in Monza and JB was slowly getting closer and closer to LH - even without the win it would have been a good 2nd, but its not impossible (given the laps remaining) he could have challanged Lewis for the win

Im pretty certain he was in the lead when connecting with a back marker (he may well have had a pitstop extra to complete, but he was ahead on the track)

Define foreseeable future and I will take a bet....

Friends over the pond are saying they are hearing Perez people paid 30m to get him in a mclaren

Can't see they needed to but stranger things have happened.

I also don't believe for a minute that Mercedes will not offer the world to Lewis and not give him no1 status. Lewis would have been after it and who could blame him.

I will define foreseeable future, I mean he will never win a single race ever again.

I guess the McLaren is definitely going to be a bad car next year then (with or without the funding Perez is likely to bring to the team)

If the McLaren is still a top car next year, I wouldn't be so fast to write off Button, or even Perez.

Vettel won in 2010 because the RBR was a dominant car. Its not any more.
Alonso is going to win this year because McLaren threw it away. You would hope they wont be doing that again.

Unless McLaren come up with an RBR7 style dominant car next season I can't see it happening.

This season they've had the best car with (one of) the best drivers and have thrown it away. Hamilton's rookie season should have been a WDC and it's not like it was a comfortable win in 2008.

When was the last time they won the WCC?

In recent history they've struggled even when they've been on top. I don't see how that's goin to change by losing their best driver.

Has Brawen already built next years car around Lewis and Rosberg?
If not then next year will be a settle in time for Lewis.
If they don't bring in the V6 engines and stay with V8s then I think we will see the racing Lewis again
as there is only two F1 drivers that can drive a dog of a car to the top and that's Lewis and Alonso.

But do you guys remember Rossi when he won his fist load champs and the the team said it was the bike and not Roosi?
we all know what happend there and Lewis could do the same.
