Hammond Critical - Top Gear Car Crash!

Announcement from leeds hospital at 11pm, BBC news 24 (according to a fairly reliable friend.. i'm not watching it :p)

Just heard the news, one of my favourite tv shows and it wouldn't be the same without him :(

Get well soon Richard!

Oh my god :( :(

I hope he's okay, he's a great bloke :(

TG has been getting out of hand of late, I hoped nothing like this would ever happen - I reckon this could be it for top gear for a good while.

Here's hoping its not as bad as it sounds!

God I hope he pulls through, he is a genious along with Clarkson and May the trio are nothing short of Media goodness in a vile world of lies.... Hammond is a great presenter and entertaining..... Thought are with family and friends....

Quality reporting from ITV there...

"We understand that the vehicle had no roof and Mr. Hammond only a crash helmet."

What about the sodding huge roll cage and safety cell?

Kinda what I was thinking.... no roll cage?

Whaaaaa

My friend just told me, so I had a look on BBC News. Horrid news.

I havent read all this thread, but does anybody have any idea what car he was driving, or rocket mobile?

It's just another case of panic reporting from the various news channels. Try to be the first network to get the most shocking information out.

No roof, no ****. May have been why there was a rollcage (which I understand would have been there anyway, before someone feels the need to point it out to me).

Wouldn't surprise me at all if he smacked his helmet on the tarmac *which sounds extremely painful!* The human neck is surprisingly stretchy at high G's

Also an impact at 280mph is likely to damage the roll cage - even if it was the car rolling.

We'll know more around 11 though.

Awful news, top bloke, met him at the NEC Motorshow 2 years ago.

Hope you have a quick and speedy recovery Richard and my thoughts with your family.
